PSA, ONE Launch Container Terminal in Singapore

Gordon Dadds Group plc said it agreed to buy one best known names in maritime law Ince & Co International.The merged firms will become a new global legal business and the largest listed law firm in the UK by revenue.Ince is a network of affiliated international commercial law firms, serving its global client base from offices across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced the establishment, effective July 1, of MOL Worldwide Logistics (MWL), and that they will lead MOL Group non vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) business in Hong Kong.In a press release the company clarified that Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) does not have own transport means (vessels), but carries cargoes between ports and to the final place of delivery by using other shipping companies.MOL Executive Officer Michael P.Y. KNS, North Telecom Pact for Maritime Communications

Germany’s Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has completed the acquisition of Estonia’s largest terminal operator, Transiidikeskuse AS (TK). The last conditions that the sales contract dated 26 March 2018 was subject to were recently fulfilled, resulting in all shares in Transiidikeskuse AS being transferred to HHLA International GmbH. As a result, the transaction has now been completed. Aquaculture Firm Chooses Optimarin BWTS

Overslag Bedrijf Amsterdam Creates Space for New Operations

Terminal operator OBA (Overslag Bedrijf Amsterdam) will be clearing part of its coal-handling site this year in order to further diversify into other dry-bulk commodities. Its decision is prompted by the reduced demand for coal storage. This represents a key new step for Port of Amsterdam in its push towards sustainability, while the change is part of OBA’s strategy of becoming a multi-purpose terminal. OBA and Port of Amsterdam have expressed their joint intention to help advance the energy transition and have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to formalise this objective.

NYK, Oyak to Build Car Terminal in Turkey

Turkey’s Oyak Group - owner of the country’s biggest steel producer, Erdemir Group - is to invest in a car logistics terminal in Yarimca port near Istanbul  in partnership with Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line). According to a Reuters report, the investment will be $110 million. According to NYK press release, Süleyman SavaĹź Erdem, general manager of OYAK, and Koichi Chikaraishi, NYK representative director and senior managing corporate officer, were on hand for the signing ceremony held in Istanbul on April 5.

Vroon shipping group has reached an in principle agreement with all its lenders regarding the terms of its financial restructuring. The agreement, which is only subject to final documentation and credit committee confirmation, is an important step forward towards the finalisation of Vroon’s financial restructuring. The agreement marks the important step towards the final stage of a process initiated in late 2016 following continued challenges in shipping markets. Vroon is confident that the envisaged restructuring will provide generous runway to implement its strategic plans.
