Tidewater Names New Manager for Quality Shipyards

Tidewater Inc. announced that Joseph R. Badeaux has joined Tidewater Inc. as General Manager and Vice President of its shipyard, Quality Shipyards, L.L.C. Mr. Badeaux has 29 years of experience in ship design, construction, repair, commissioning, project management and operations management. He is a graduate of Old Dominion University, and originally from Virginia, and will be based at Tidewater's Quality Shipyards, L.L.C. located in Houma, Louisiana.

Quality Shipyards Launches Terrel Tide

On Friday, January 9, 2009, Quality shipyards launched its Hull 1271, the M/V Terrel Tide, a 266 ft by 56 ft by 19 ft 6 inch Offshore Oilfield Supply Vessel. The M/V Terrel Tide is being constructed for Tidewater Marine and is named for Terrel Hebert, Vice President of Production and a 38 year veteran of Quality Shipyards.

MEMCO Christens Joy Anne Keller

MEMCO Barge Line, the inland barging subsidiary of Electric Fuels Corp. (EFC), christened a new towboat in New Orleans. M/V Joy Anne Keller, named after the wife of EFC President and CEO Richard D. Keller is the 22nd towboat in MEMCO's fleet. Built by Quality Shipyards, of Houma, La., the 8,000 hp twin-screw towboat measures 180 x 48 x 11.5 ft., and is designed to operate on the Lower Mississippi River between Cairo and New Orleans. MEMCO Barge Line, the inland barging subsidiary of Electric Fuels Corp. (EFC), christened a new towboat in New Orleans. M/V Joy Anne Keller, named after the wife of EFC President and CEO Richard D. Keller is the 22nd towboat in MEMCO's fleet.

Quality Shipyard Launches Cindy Brown

According to a report from www.dailycomet.com, Quality Shipyard launched the 266-ft Cindy Brown Tide for Tidewater on Jan. 13. But the MV Cindy Brown Tide enters an uncertain climate for offshore shipbuilding as the oil-and-gas industry waits to see what new safety and environmental regulations emerge in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon spill. Tidewater Christens New Vessel

Tidewater Inc. announced that one of its new vessels, the M/V Pat Taylor, named in honor of the late New Orleans businessman, Patrick F. Taylor, will be christened on August 21, at the wharf of the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. Mrs. Phyllis M. Taylor, wife of Pat Taylor and current Chairman and CEO of Taylor Energy Company LLC, will christen the new 220-ft. platform supply vessel which was built by Quality Shipyards, LLC, a subsidiary of Tidewater located in Houma, La.

Tidewater To Build 12 New Vessels

Tidewater Inc. signed contracts to build a total of 12 new vessels for $305 million, electing to build eight vessels at two Far East shipyards and four at its subsidiary, Quality Shipyard L.L.C. The $305 million in new build commitments - which fulfills its January 2000-announced plan to spend $300 million upgrading its fleet - falls on the heels of Tidewater's recent purchase of eight similar vessels from The Sanko Steamship Co., Ltd. The eight vessels to be built outside the U.S. will be comprised of five large 280-ft. anchor handling towing supply vessels with greater than 20,000 hp and three 260-ft. platform supply vessels. The four vessels being built at Quality Shipyard will be similar platform supply vessels and will be built to full Jones Act compliance.

Leevac Acquires Quality Shipyards from Tidewater

LEEVAC Shipyards, LLC through its newly created subsidiary LEEVAC Shipyards Houma, LLC (LEEVAC) has completed the acquisition of substantially all assets of Quality Shipyards, Inc. (Quality) located at 3201 Earhart Street in Houma Louisiana from Tidewater Marine, LLC (NYSE: TDW). The acquisition of assets includes 35 acres of industrial property located on 2,500 feet of waterfront along the intracoastal waterway, 4 drydocks (the largest measuring 4,200 tons of capacity), 100,000 square feet of covered production facilities and several large track cranes.

Platform supply vessel Cindy Brown Tide was delivered to offshore-service giant Tidewater on Oct. 24, and chartered to oil company BP in the Gulf of Mexico. The boat's namesake is someone missed by many. Davie Launches Resolve-Class Naval Support Ship

Davie Shipbuilding announced that during the weekend it launched the largest naval vessel ever to be delivered from a Canadian shipyard – on time, to budget and at an internationally competitive cost. Commissioning of all onboard systems began in early September and on the 16th November 2017, the ship will perform its sea-trials prior to achieving Full Operational Capability (FOC). During the sea-trials - overseen by Lloyd's Register – the ship's safety, quality, systems and functionality will be tested against the high military standards and specifications which it has been built to.

Damen Bags Jack-up Pontoon Contract

Damen Shipyards Sharjah (DSS) in the United Arab Emirates has won a contract to build a shallow draught, self-propelled Jack-up Pontoon 3526 for the UAE-based contractor Aqua Diving Services Ltd. Once delivered, it will be used primarily to deliver offshore support services, including the provision of accommodation facilities for personnel as well as operating as a work platform with crane facilities. Aqua Diving Services (ADS) has specifically designed the Jack-up for Middle East operations and is closely cooperating with Damen Shipyards Sharjah for the construction of the unit.

Wilson Sons Delivers Tug SST-Aruá

Wilson Sons shipyard, part of the WilsonSons Group, has delivered yet another tugboat. The SST-Aruá is the second tugboat delivered to SAAM SMIT Towage Brazil and is part of a total order of four vessels. The first of the series the SST-Aimoré was delivered in June this year. "It took just over 18 months to deliver the second tugboat from the moment of signing the contract. In a challenging time for the shipbuilding industry, WilsonSons shipyard could again show their strength and resilience," said Adalberto Souza, director of Wilson Sons shipyard. The SST-Aruá was built in Guarujá (SP).

Star Bulk Acquires Two Ultramax Bulk Carriers

Star Bulk Carriers Corp., a global shipping company focusing on the transportation of dry bulk cargos, announced that it has entered into definitive agreements to acquire two modern Ultramax bulk carriers, the M/V Supra Challenger I and M/V Supra Challenger II, from an unaffiliated third party for an aggregate total consideration of $58.1 million. The vessels have a carrying capacity of 61, 462 deadweight tons each and were built in Japan by Imabari Shipbuilding Group, in November of 2012 and September of 2013 respectively. The vessels, to be renamed Star Challenger and Star Fighter, are expected to be delivered to Star Bulk in early December 2013 and by January 15, 2014 respectively.

MOL Names Newbuilding LNG Carrier 'Energy Liberty'

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced that on October 16, a naming ceremony for a newbuilding LNG carrier, jointly owned by MOL and Tokyo LNG Tanker, was held at the Tsu Shipyard of Japan Marine United Corporation. Among the crowd of well-wishers on hand for the ceremony were Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. President Michiaki Hirose, who gave the name Energy Liberty to the vessel, after which his wife cut the rope. The Energy Liberty will be the eighth LNG carrier owned and managed by Tokyo LNG Tanker. MOL will directly manage six of those vessels, including this newbuilding vessel.

Star Bulk Receives Post-Panamax Bulk Carrier

Star Bulk Carriers Corp., a global shipping company focusing on the transportation of dry bulk cargos, announced that it has taken delivery of M/V Star Vega, a Post-Panamax bulk carrier of approximately 98,000 deadweight tons carrying capacity. The vessel has commenced a time charter with the sellers of the vessel for a period between 30 months to 34 months, at a gross daily hire rate of $15,000 minus a 1.25% address commission on gross revenues. The vessel is expected to generate approximately $13.4 million in charter revenue over the minimum contracted period.

Star Bulk Takes Delivery of Star Sirius

Star Bulk Carriers Corp., a global shipping company focusing on the transportation of dry bulk cargos, has announced that it has taken delivery of M/V Star Sirius a Post - Panamax bulk carrier of approximately 98,000 deadweight tons carrying capacity. The Star Sirius is the second of the two modern Post-Panamax bulk carriers to be delivered to the company, pursuant to the relevant binding agreements announced on January 29, 2014. The vessel has commenced a time charter with the sellers of the vessel, Glocal Maritime Ltd., for a period between 28-32 months, at a gross daily hire rate of $15,000 less a 1.25% address commission on gross revenues. The vessel is expected to generate approximately $12.4 million in charter revenues over the minimum contracted period.
