Divers Inspect Grounded Ro-Ro

The 93 passengers and 36 crew on a ro-ro ran aground approximately 100 meters from shore at Barangay Nasunugan in Banton, the Philippines, at midnight on July 16 have now been rescued and refloating efforts have begun.Montenegro Shipping’s Maria Helena was sailing from Lucena Port in Lucena City, Quezon Province, bound for San Agustin Port in Tablas, Romblon, when the incident occurred.The vessel has been listing 10 degrees to portside, and the Captain is reported to have attributed the list to to the explosion of one tire of one of the rolling cargoes onboard…

At Least Seven Dead after Fire on Philippine Passenger Ferry

Seven people have died after a high-speed Philippine ferry carrying 134 people caught fire on Monday, with seven passengers still missing, the coast guard said.The ship caught fire just before reaching the port of Real in Quezon province, about 60 km (37.28 miles) east of the capital Manila. It had left Polilio Island at 5:00 a.m. local time (2100 GMT Sunday) and made a distress call at 6:30 a.m.Five women and two men had died, while 120 passengers had been rescued, with 23 of them treated for injuries…

EWC Gets Philippines LNG Hub Permit

Australia’s Energy World Corp(EWC) said it has received a permit from the Philippines' department of energy (DoE) to construct an LNG hub at Pagbilao Grande island in Quezon province.The energy company, which produces and sells power and natural gas primarily in the Asia Pacific region, said in a stock exchange annoucement that DoE Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi on behalf of the department had issued Energy World Gas Operations Philippines, Inc. a permit to construct, own and operate an LNG import terminal and regasification facility on the Pagbilao Grande island.“The permit which was issued on 21 December 2018 forms an update to the original permit documentation and provides for a further construction period of 24 months from the permit issue date…

Philippine's Batangas Port Hits Record Cargo Volume in November

The Batangas International Port or locally known as the Batangas Pier in Philippines said that  Batangas Container Terminal (BCT), managed by listed Asian Terminals Inc.(ATI), has continuously stepped up its role as international trade facilitator in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and has effectively helped decongest Metro Manila roads.Early in November, BCT achieved a new operations milestone as it broke through the 200,000-TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) cargo volume mark for the first time in a single year since its start-up in 2010.With this achievement and still a month to go before 2018 ends, BCT already surpassed its full-year cargo throughput of over 197,000 teus in 2017.

Philippine Ferry Capsizes with 251 Aboard

Four people were killed and seven were missing after a Philippine ferry with 251 people on board capsized during bad weather on Thursday near the capital, Manila, disaster officials and a coastguard spokesman said. Accidents involving boats sailing between the many islands of the Philippines are common. Vessels are often overloaded but the coastguard said that was not the case on Thursday and the ferry had the capacity to carry 286 people. A total of 240 people were rescued from the sea by fishermen and rescue boats sent out by the coastguard hours after the ferry capsized and sank…

Philippines Seizes North Korean Cargo Ship

The Philippines said on Saturday it had seized a North Korean freighter that was covered by harsher United Nations' sanctions against Pyongyang over its nuclear programme. Manila will also deport the vessel's 21 North Korean crew and will await a U.N. inspection team from the United Nations, foreign ministry spokesman Charles Jose said in a text message. "In compliance with the United Nations resolution, the North Korean ship in Subic will be impounded and not allowed to leave port," he said. The 6,830 deadweight tonne (dwt) cargo ship Jin Teng was one of the first sanctioned North Korean ships to enter a foreign port since the tightened sanctions were passed unanimously by the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday. Thirty-one North Korean ships are on the list.

Batangas Port Sets Container Record

Batangas Container Terminal (BCT) set a new record in 2014 for containers handled, says its operator Asian Terminals, Inc. (ATI). Port handled over 98,000 twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEUs) in 2014, its highest total ever. The port operator added that BCT ended 2014 with consolidated throughput of 1.02 million TEUs, up 8.6%. BCT has continuously expanded its role as a comprehensive gateway for Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), providing shippers direct connectivity to Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia and other global hubs through vessels regularly calling the port weekly. Philippine Coast Guard Boosts Security

With some 12 million devotees from different walks of life to join the procession, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and various law enforcement agencies will deploy its security personnel and assets for the upcoming Feast of the Black Nazarene on Thursday, January 9, 2014. PCG Commandant Rear Admiral Rodolfo D. Isorena directed the dispatch of PCG personnel and assets in different points within the route of said procession. More Survivors Recovered from Capsized Ferry

According to Inquirer.net, 28 more people were recovered from the ferry that was overturned by strong waves caused by a typhoon in the . Another body was recovered, raising the number of deaths from to five, the report said. It was not immediately clear how the 28 survived, except that they were found as a group at a coastal town in Quezon province. Source:  Inquirer.net

The 105 ft. Millennium Falcon is powered by two Cat 3516B marine diesel engines, each rated 2,200 bhp (1,641 bkW) at 1,600 rpm, supplied by N C Power Systems, Seattle. The electronically controlled Cat engines drive Ulstein stern Z-drive propulsion systems with 94.5 in. four blade propellers inside Ulstein high performance nozzles. The second Millennium vessel is currently under construction at Marco and is scheduled to enter service in. August 2000.

Autoship Systems Corporation sold its CAD/CAM software to Herma Shipbuilding, Inc. of Quezon City, Philippines. Herma's installation of Autoship Pro, Autopower, Autohydro Pro, Autoplate and Autostructure and Production Manager is for two dedicated users across a network platform. AutoPlant, a 3D Piping program from ASC partner firm, Bentley Systems, Inc., was also installed with direct integration into Autostructure. Herma Shipyard provides shipbuilding, ship repair and ship conversion services. It is a member of the Herma Group, which provides petroleum, maritime and environmental services.

Three Shipping Companies Indicted for Covering Up Pollution

Three companies that own and operate an oceangoing chemical tanker named the M/T Clipper Trojan were indicted in connection with an attempt by crew members to cover up the illegal dumping of oily waste in international waters, the Justice Department announced. The 11-count indictment named Clipper Wonsild Tankers Holding A/S and Clipper Marine Services A/S, both of which are Danish companies that operate and manage the M/T Clipper Trojan, and Trojan Shipping Co. Ltd., a Bahamas company that is the registered owner of the M/T Clipper Trojan, as defendants. All three companies are part of The Clipper Group A/S, a global shipping consortium based in Denmark.
