Rusal Suspends Exports via Russia's Biggest Container Operator
Russia's largest freight container operator, TransContainer said on Tuesday Russian aluminium giant Rusal had suspended exports through TransContainer's system after Rusal was hit by U.S. sanctions "They (Rusal) do not know what to do yet, what is going on with them; that is why all transportation operations are suspended," TransContainer's chief executive Petr Baskakov told reporters in Moscow on Tuesday.According to his estimate, Rusal had been shipping 25-30 percent of its exports via TransContainer.
Maersk's Port Business Woos Customers with New Transport Services
Danish shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk's is betting on winning new customers for its port division by becoming a one-stop shop that can transport goods from factory to retailers' shelves. The move comes as Maersk, the world's biggest container shipper, is entering uncharted territory following its sale last year of most of its energy businesses. Port of Ystad Posts Record First Half
Port of Ystad, which saw record-breaking volumes in 2015, continues reaching new record numbers in 2016 for traffic to and from Poland and the Danish island of Bornholm. The number of ton goods, trucks, busses, cars and passengers all showed an increase during the first half of 2016 compared to the same period last year. The biggest reported increase was the number of trucks with an 18.6 percent increase. In total 110,000 trucks passed through the port – a new record for Port of Ystad. The number of ton goods surpassed 1,650,000, also a port record with a 13 percent increase.
Tse Heads Risk Management, BMT Asia Pacific

The new appointment will help support the regional growth of risk consultancy services - principally in the transportation and construction sectors. Joanne will be actively involved in developing and managing risk projects for our growing client base. She brings more than 15 years of experience in the rail industry specialising in risk assessment and management, safety assurance, and corporate/enterprise risk management. Rejoining BMT after three years at Willis Insurance Brokers, Joanne’s previous tenure focussed on rail engineering projects involving operational and construction project risks.
Konecranes Wins Crane Orders in Russia
In September and October 2007 Konecranes signed two contracts to supply container-handling cranes to the cargo terminal OJSC Petrolesport (PLP) in St. Petersburg, Russia. One of the orders comprises two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and the other six RTG (rubber tyred gantry) cranes. The cranes will be delivered in mid-2008. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the orders. PLP is one of the largest stevedoring companies in the port of St. Petersburg. PLP belongs to Severstaltrans Group of companies. Cargo traffic is increasing in Russia, so PLP is increasing its terminal capacity in the St. Petersburg port. Konecranes has delivered cranes to PLP's terminal in the past, and the terminal has six Konecranes cranes in its fleet, one STS and five RTGs.
