AD Ports Expands Shipping Operations in Kazakhstan

Designer and builder of specialized vessels Vard Holdings Limited announced its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2016 (3Q 2016) and nine months ended September 30, 2016 (9M 2016). Vard Extends SCHOTTEL Propulsion Order

Having already secured the contract in early summer to fit 15 Vard design 9 21 module carriers, propulsion specialist SCHOTTEL has now also received a follow-up order to fit three further Vard design 9 28 vessels with 12 main and auxiliary units. The Norwegian Vard Group is building the first-mentioned 15 vessels for Topaz Energy and Marine, UAE, and the later three for KMTF, the National Maritime Republic of Kazakhstan. A total of 36 special variant SRP 340 Rudderpropellers (formerly SRP 1012) were ordered as the main propulsion units for all 18 carriers.

Vard Secures Contract for Three Module Carrier Vessels

Vard Holdings Limited announced that it has secured a contract for the design and construction of three Module Carrier Vessels for Kazmortransflot (KMTF). The contract win was previously disclosed on July 29, 2016. The vessels, of VARD 9 28 design, will be operated by KMTF through a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping. The vessels, measuring 113 by 22 meters, are designed for transport in the Caspian Sea. All three vessels will be built at Vard Braila in Romania. Delivery is scheduled between 3Q 2017 and 1Q 2018. The aggregate contract price is approximately $70 million. The National Maritime Shipping Company “Kazmortransflot” is the National Maritime Carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Gazprom to Extend Gas Supplies from Kazakhstan

Astana hosted today a working meeting between Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Uzakbai Karabalin, Minister of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties discussed further cooperation in the gas sector and, in particular, the extension of the long-term agreement till 2038 – on purchase and sale of gas produced from the Karachaganakskoye gas and condensate field. A focus was also placed on the prospects for the joint development of the Imashevskoye gas and condensate field. In addition, the parties looked into the possible development of Russian and Kazakh gas transmission networks.

Foster Wheeler's Terrace Wall Steam Reformer Heater For Kazakhstan

Foster Wheeler AG (Nasdaq:FWLT) announced today that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by Marubeni Corporation for the engineering and material supply of a new Terrace Wall steam reformer heater, including an air preheating system, for the KazMunayGaz oil refinery located at Atyrau, Republic of Kazakhstan. The value of Foster Wheeler’s contract was not disclosed and was included in the company’s first-quarter 2014 bookings. The steam reformer will be part of a hydrogen production unit with a capacity of 24,000 normal cubic meters per hour to be built at the refinery. The hydrogen plant is based on Foster Wheeler’s hydrogen technology. Foster Wheeler’s scope of work is scheduled to be completed in April 2015.

RINA Obtains Kazakhstan Recognition

RINA has been officially recognized as a competent and authorized authority to carry out classification and statutory services for ships registered under the Kazakhstan flag. The authorization was formalised in a recently signed agreement between the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan and RINA Services SpA, the parent company of the Genoa-headquartered RINA Group. Kazakhstan Recognizes ABS

ABS and The Republic of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTC) have concluded an agreement granting ABS Recognized Organization (RO) status, able to act on behalf of the country’s maritime Administration. This designation allows ABS to perform statutory certification surveys and functions on board Republic of Kazakhstan flagged vessels and offshore units, and for companies which operate these ships and units. In this capacity, ABS determines the compliance of such vessels with applicable international convention requirements and national regulations for the issuance of relevant statutory certificates on behalf of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

SpecTec Russia, Kazmortransflot Sign Contract

Kazmortransflot is a shipping subsidiary of KazMunaiGaz - a national Oil & Gas company of Kazkhastan. Kazmortransflot has a fleet of tankers, barges, and tugboats. The objective of Kazmortransflot is the creation and development of the national sea merchant marine fleet which contributes significantly to the maintenance of transport independence in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The company will invest in construction and acquisition of tankers, dry cargo fleets and support fleets. The total project has been split over 2009/2010. The contract for 2009 has been signed on 29/05/09 and covers AMOS implementation on four tankers, the Kazmortransflot office and the warehouse as well. The contract for 2010 will cover AMOS implementation to support fleet and two newbuilt tankers.
