Fincantieri makes First Delivery to Seabourn Cruise

The handover ceremony of “Seabourn Encore”, the first of two ultra-luxury cruise ships ordered to Fincantieri by the ship owner Seabourn Cruise Line, brand of Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise company, took place today at the Marghera shipyard (Venice). The ceremony was attended for the ship owner, among others, by Micky Arison, Chairman of Carnival Corporation, Richard D. 31st Edition of Cruise Shipping Miami

Cruise Shipping Miami 2015 is gearing up to offer the most comprehensive and robust roster of panel discussions featuring the industry's most knowledgeable and experienced executives. The panels will be grouped under several broad themes based on industry trends during the four-day conference. The 31st edition of Cruise Shipping Miami is scheduled for March 16-19 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Organized by UBM Connect, thematic topics include The Geography of Cruise Tourism, Safety and Ship Operations, Market Segments and Cruise Product Development. On Tuesday morning, March 17, the conference will open with the popular State of the Industry session. Participants in that plenary session will be announced in the coming weeks. This program may be subject to alterations and additions.

Seabourn Orders Another Ultra-Luxury Ship

Seabourn has announced that it has exercised its option for a second new 40,350-GRT ship to be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. It will be a sister ship to the newbuild announced earlier this year. The first new Seabourn ship is scheduled for delivery in late 2016, and the second ship will be delivered in spring, 2018. Holland America Debuts Pool Concept

When Holland America Line's ms Statendam, ms Maasdam, ms Ryndam, ms Veendam and ms Rotterdam emerge from nearly month-long dry docks with an additional $200m in investments, one of the highlights will be The Retreat, a new resort-style pool area on the aft of the Lido deck. The main focus of the new pool experience will be a shallow area with forty-four lounge chairs where guests can relax and dip their fingers and toes in the water. Built-in benches create another place for guests to relax and dangle their legs in the refreshing water.

Natansohn Named Seabourn President

Deborah L. Natansohn has been named president of Seabourn Cruise Line. A well-known industry veteran, Natansohn most recently was senior vice president of sales and marketing for Cunard Line Ltd., where she spearheaded the launch of the celebrated Queen Mary 2 and the rebranding of the venerable line. Natansohn's appointment is part of a corporate restructuring in which the ultra luxury, all-suite Yachts of Seabourn will operate as an independent brand within the Carnival Corporation. Previously, Seabourn shared back-office functions with sister brand, Cunard Line, which is relocating to Valencia, California. Seabourn will remain based in Miami. The two brands will continue to share their national field sales force, which remains intact. Natansohn succeeds Richard D.
