Krugh Named President of Bath Iron Works

General Dynamics appointed Gulfstream Aerospace executive Charles F. Krugh as president of General Dynamics Bath Iron Works.“Chuck’s leadership, proven track record in manufacturing and expertise in managing complex supply chains will be an enabler to Bath Iron Works as it expands and increases the pace of shipbuilding for the U.S. Navy,” said Robert E. Smith, executive vice president for Marine Systems.A U.S. Army veteran, Krugh served in a variety of aerospace manufacturing roles before joining General Dynamics in 2011 as a senior vice president and general manager for Jet Aviation.

University of North Texas Wins IANA Competition

A student team fielded by the University of North Texas (UNT) won the Intermodal Association of North America’s (IANA) third annual Intermodal Challenge, earning national recognition for their university through IANA’s growing young professionals development program. The first place award was presented to UNT’s Curtis Pogue, Sarah McLaughlin and Chris Turner at the Intermodal Expo in Houston, Texas. USCG Accepting Applications for TSAC Vacancies

The United States Coast Guard is requesting applications from qualified candidates seeking consideration for appointment as public members to the Towing Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC). TSAC advises the Coast Guard on matters relating to shallow-draft inland and coastal waterway navigation and towing safety. Applications for TSAC membership must include a cover letter and resume. GL Garrad Hassan: Policy and Grid Shape Wave and Tidal Risk Profile

GL Garrad Hassan has carried out new analysis questioning the perception that the risk profile of wave and tidal projects is primarily driven by technical challenges. The work was launched as part of RenewableUK's Annual marine energy report "Conquering Challenges, Generating Growth" at the industry association's 10th Wave and Tidal conference. Adopting a bird's eye view of the industry, the work demonstrates that much of the risk associated with marine energy projects emerges from the electrical and political systems in which they must operate.

Cleveland-Cuyahoga Port Authority Re-elects Officers

The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority’s Board of Directors today elected officers to fill one-year terms, effective immediately. The Board re-elected Robert C. Smith, Chair; Marc Krantz, Vice Chair; and Anthony Moore, Secretary. Smith is entering his fifth year of service on the Board, and this marks his second term as Chair. Smith is President and CEO of Spero-Smith Investment Advisers Inc., a registered investment advisory firm. “I’m honored to again serve as Chair and look forward to a very active year as we continue to implement our ambitious strategy to spur job growth and economic vitality on our waterfronts and throughout our region,” said Smith. Krantz was appointed to the Port Board in 2009. He is the managing partner of the Kohrman Jackson & Krantz law firm.

GL Garrad Hassan supports Kawasaki Tidal Project

According to official studies, the theoretical worldwide generation potential of tidal energy has been estimated at over 7,800 TWh/year. Working to support the growth in this emerging sector of the renewable energy industry, tidal energy experts from GL Garrad Hassan are aiding Kawasaki Heavy Industries in the development and deployment of its 1MW prototype tidal turbine by providing technical information and guidance on tidal resources and technologies. NASSCO Appoints Three New Vice Presidents

National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) has appointed new Vice Presidents of Human Resources, Finance and Production Outfitting. NASSCO is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). Donald H. Dame has been named Vice President – Human Resources ; he will report to Harris. Dame has over 30 years of human resources business experience. For the last seven years, he has been Vice President of Human Resources and Government Relations for Freeman Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, headquartered in Springfield, Ill. Dame holds a degree in Mining Technology from Rend Lake College in Ina, Ill. and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
