Boat launch and recovery systems supplier Vestdavit said it will deliver motion-compensated davits to the US Navy, following orders placed by shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO to equip two Expeditionary Sea Base (ESB) ships.The US shipbuilder’s San Diego yard will deliver ESB 6 and ESB 7, the latest in a series of ships which act as mobile sea bases to support mine countermeasure, counter-piracy, disaster-relief, crisis-response and other operations. The acquisition covers a complete steel fabrication, engineering and construction facility in Redzikowo, Poland, from where Tritec has been supporting Vestdavit as its principal davit assembly partner for more than a decade.“With 65 dedicated employees specializing in steel-structure manufacturing, hydraulic and mechanical assembly, and the factory-acceptance testing required for davits from 1 to 16 tons, Tritec is a worthy addition to our enterprise,” says Vestdavit Managing Director Rolf Andreas Wigand.

Vestdavit Supplies Davits for French Patrol Boat

Norway based boat handling system and specialised davit supplier Vestdavit has been contracted by French shipyard Socarenam to supply the davits for a new 50 m patrol boat which it will build for the French customs. Vestdavit will supply two davits, one PAP6000 and one PAP3250 davit which will give the patrol vessel the capability of launching and recovering RIBs up to 9.5 m long in sea state 6. Vestdavit: Out Ahead on Innovation and Safety

New regulations for davits used in the Norwegian offshore industry will not come into force until 2015, but in the meantime, they are already raising the safety bar. In fact, Norwegian-based davit manufacturer Vestdavit already has a NORSOK-compliant davit. Like so many things in the offshore oil game, many industry standards – LNG propulsion and executive style accommodations on OSV’s, just to name a few – emanate from the North Sea and Norwegian operators. For those domestic operators not familiar with these rules, NORSOK standards are developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry to ensure adequate safety, add value and with an eye towards cost effectiveness for petroleum industry developments and operations.

Vestdavit secures Australian Customs patrol boat order from Austal. NORWAY-based boat handling system and specialised davit supplier Vestdavit has been contracted by shipbuilder Austal to supply its state-of-the-art PLAR-6500 davits to eight new Cape Class Patrol Boats (CCPBs) to be built for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service. Austal will build the 58.1 m Cape Class Patrol Boats at its shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia. Construction of the first vessel is expected to begin soon, with all eight due to be delivered between March 2013 and August 2015.
