ABB Turbocharging Service Point to Open at MMS' Limassol Shipyard

ABB Turbocharging and Multimarine Services Ltd (MMS) have agreed an ABB Turbocharging Service Point will open at the MMS shipyard facility at Limassol Port, Cyprus.The deal, signed this week during the Posidonia exhibition in Athens, confirms the creation of the first turbocharging service point in Limassol to be located at a shipyard, after proactive discussions between ABB Turbocharging Greece & Cyprus and MMS to relocate ABB’s local service facilities. ABB Turbocharger PM Model Demonstrates RoI

ABB announced study results which show a 202% return on investment (ROI) from using ABB Preventive Maintenance. The new study indicates that the payback of preventive maintenance is immediate, while the Net Present Value - a measure of profitability of a projected investment – can be around US$1.3 million over three years for a typical organization. Preventive maintenance involves maintaining and servicing equipment at regular intervals in line with manufacturer recommendations, rather than waiting to carry out reactive or corrective repairs – also known as ‘corrective maintenance’. According to the study, a corrective maintenance approach can have financial consequences for a company.

OEMs Favored for Maintenance, Spare Parts -Study

An independent study for ABB Turbocharging found that 87 percent of organizations work only or mostly with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for maintenance support and spare parts procurement. Benefits cited include reduced downtime and better parts availability according to the Forrester Consulting Technology Adoption Profile. The individuals surveyed held responsibility for maintenance, repair and supplier management in 105 organizations that leverage large engines and capital intensive machinery.
