Jack-Up Barge Bolsters Offshore Accommodation

Jack-Up Barge has recently placed an order with Malaysian-based Asian Offshore Services (AOS) for additional Zone 2 blast-rated Temporary Living Quarters (TLQs). Ronald Schukking, Technical and New Building Director at Jack-Up Barge, said of the order, “Our fleet is used for a variety of purposes by contractors and operators from all corners of the offshore sector. We notice an increasing demand for offshore accommodation and have responded accordingly with a significant increase in high quality TLQs.

Jack-Up Barge Debuts New Offshore Installation Method

Jack-Up Barge, the offshore self-elevating platform supplier, has pioneered a new cost-effective installation method that the company said will revolutionize offshore wind turbine construction. The Netherlands-based based company, a supplier to the offshore energy markets, successfully completed seatrials at the beginning of March, on a new, first-of-its-kind, portable DP2 system. The new system, integrated to one of Jack-Up Barge’s platforms, enables the vessel to operate between work sites offshore without recourse to a tug vessel.

ABS Elects New Council

At the 150th Annual Meeting of the Members of ABS, three industry leaders were elected to the ABS Council. Following the Annual Meeting, the ABS Council met and elected industry leaders to both its Marine and Offshore Technical Committees. Individuals serving on the ABS Council and the Technical Committees help guide the class society in fulfilling its mission of promoting the security of life, property and the natural environment. “Classification represents the concept of self-regulation for the marine and offshore industry,” said ABS President and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki.

Successful audits and efficiency stimulate Jack-Up Barge to award new contracts to MirTac. Jack-Up Barge awarded MirTac new contracts for consultancy and Star IPS implementation for 4 locations: 1 monohull and 3 modular self elevating platforms. The assignment includes business consulting to optimize the efficient organisation of office-barge processes, the translation of daily practice into the Star IPS software and the set-up of all required documentation, procedures, planned maintenance and administration onboard.
