Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) held a steel cutting ceremony for a new offshore accommodation platform under construction at the Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar.Chief Executive Officer of Nakilat, Eng. Abdullah Al Sulaiti, said, “This ceremony marks a milestone not only for N-KOM but also for Qatar, as this is the first such offshore fabrication to be wholly-constructed locally.”The project scope was awarded to N-KOM by Rosetti Marino, a Italian company providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to the energy industry worldwide.

Italy's Rosetti Marino has withdrawn its offer to buy Heerema Fabrication Group’s (HFG) Zwijndrecht facility in the Netherlands, with HFG confirming the yard is to close.Rosetti Marino and HFG entered into a letter of intent on the 16th of November with the aim to sell to Rosetti Marino the HFG activities at the yard in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands.Both companies have worked closely together and in good mutual cooperation to investigate the viability of this proposed sale.Rosetti Marino, after careful consideration of the risks and opportunities, has concluded that this acquisition did not meet its requirements due to adverse market…

Dutch offshore construction and engineering company Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) intends to divest a significant part of its activities in the field of design and fabrication of complex steel constructions for the offshore market.HFG has been struggling for some time with insufficient project volume and marginal profitability. In addition, the risks associated with building topsides are high and clients are not prepared to pay for this risk.As a result of the divestment HFG intends to dispose of its activities at the locations in Zwijndrecht (The Netherlands) and Hartlepool (United Kingdom). The intended restructuring will see the closure of HFG’s head office in The Netherlands.

Italian company Rosetti Marino tests its new 220-mt bollard pull Anchor Handling, Tug, Supply & Service Vessel (AHTS). Since 2010, bollard pull testing has become standard practice for newly built steel tugs. The test provides a good measure of the tugboat’s maximum pulling load. Contacted to supply a bollard pull test rope at short notice, Lankhorst supplied a 88 mm diameter, 300 m LankoForce rope made from high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) Dyneema. The rope has an actual breaking load of 4806 kN (490 mT) (spliced). Rolls-Royce has signed an £18 million contract with Italian shipyard Rosetti Marino S.p.A for the design and delivery of an integrated power & propulsion and equipment system for an anchor handling vessel. The vessel will be built for Augusta Offshore S.p.A and is a repeat order of a Rolls-Royce UT 712 CD due to be delivered in June from the same yard. Due for delivery in mid 2014, the high tech vessel is specially designed and equipped for handling anchors and mooring lines in water up to 2000 metres deep. The vessel is also equipped to undertake oil recovery, fire fighting, stand by and rescue duties. Rolls-Royce will also supply the main engines, propulsion systems and gear, tunnel thrusters, rudders, deck machinery, electrical systems as well as automation and control systems.

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has secured an order to design and equip two offshore supply vessels for ship owner Gulf Offshore North Sea Ltd. The value of the contract to Rolls-Royce is approximately £10 million. The two UT755 XL designs will be built at the Rosetti Marino SpA shipyard in Ravenna, Italy, with expected delivery in 2013 and 2014. In addition to the design, Rolls-Royce will provide a propulsion system for each vessel including propellers and thrusters, along with deck machinery, bulk handling equipment and a ship automation package.

Rolls-Royce announced an £11million order to design and equip two offshore service vessels for Italian ship owner Fratelli D’Amato.These UT 755 XL vessels will carry out operations in the offshore oil and gas sector and will be built at the Rosetti Marino S.p.A shipyard in Italy. The order includes an integrated system of Rolls-Royce equipment including thrusters for manoeuvring, rudders, propellers, deck machinery and a bulk handling system for the safe loading of fluids and solid cargo. The vessels are due to be delivered by the end of 2013. GE Marine announces that it will supply IML Power, , with eight V228 medium-speed diesel engines. The 16-cylinder engines will power four new, UT755L-type offshore platform supply vessels. IML Power is an authorized distributor of GE diesel engines and services in . The vessels will be constructed by Rosetti Marino S.p.A. Each of the four new ships will be powered by two 16V228 engines, each rated at 2790 kilowatts (kW) at 955 rpm. The engines will be manufactured at GE’s state-of-the-art , facility.
