Putin Pledges Russian Superiority in the Arctic with New Icebreakers

President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday Russia wanted to retain its "superiority" in the Arctic and that it planned to renew its icebreaker fleet to bolster its presence there.Moscow has stepped up its efforts to tap the region's commercial potential, including by increasing freight traffic on the Northern Sea Route, which runs from Murmansk in the Russian Arctic to the Bering Strait near Alaska.In recent years Russia has also reopened abandoned Soviet military, air and radar bases in the energy-rich region as it vies for dominance against traditional rivals Canada…

Rosmorport Icebreaker Support in Russia

The FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreaker fleet provides continual navigation in several freezing Russian seaports.The icebreakers of the Arkhangelsk Branch, including the Captain Yevdokimov, the Captain Kosolapov and the Captain Chadaev, provide support for vessels in the seaport of Arkhangelsk.The icebreakers have provided support for 53 vessels since November 26, 2019. Rosmorport Marks 400th Anniversary of Russia's Pilot Service Foundation

Rosmorport says a solemn ceremony devoted to opening a monument in honor of the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the Russian pilot service was held in Arkhangelsk on December 18, 2019.A memorial sign erected at the intersection of the Severnaya Dvina Embankment and Voskresenskaya Street was installed on the initiative and at the expense of FSUE Rosmorport.The enterprise’s delegation has been provided the right to open the solemn event. “The opening of the pilot sign is a tribute to the important maritime profession. Pella Sietas Wins $111M Icebreaker Deal

Pella Sietas, a shipbuilding company in Neuenfelde, Hamburg, has secured a EUR100 million ($111Mln) order from Russian authorities for a new icebreaker described as the biggest ever built in Germany.The new icebreaker, "Eisbrecher7", with a length of 120m, a width of 27.5m and a draught of 8.5m, is the largest single order in Pella Sieta's company history. The icebreaker is part of the Russian fleet modernization program which, as a special vessel, not only keeps sea routes clear but also provides pilot service for large ships in ice, towing ships and other floating structures. It also offers the possibility of fire fighting, sea rescue and deck cargo transport.

Zvezda Shipyard Order Jumps Up by 42%

Russian Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has increased its portfolio of orders by 42 percent in the second half of 2018.The shipbuilding and engineering complex in the town of Bolshoy Kamen in the Russian Far East said that currently, it has a total of 37 vessels in its orderbook and is in the process of securing new contracts.Zvezda’s anchor customer is Rosneft, which placed an order for 26 vessels, including 12 Arc6 and Arc7 ice-class tankers, 4 ice-class multi-purpose support vessels, and 10 Aframax tankers.Gazprom ordered 3 support vessels, 1 vessel for transporting drilling crews, and 1 multi-purpose service vessel for offshore production unit.Rosmorport ordered 1 shallow-draft icebreaker.

Fast Delivery of Beloe More to Siberian Harbor Before Winter

The Beloe More recently joined its sister vessel Severnaya Dvina in the Port of Sabetta, northern Russia. The 2,000 m3 hopper dredger was delivered from stock to FSUE ROSMORPORT. The customized hopper dredger will perform maintenance duties and execute capital dredging in the newly created harbor.The Beloe More - meaning ‘White Sea’ in Russian - is not the first vessel Damen has delivered to ROSMORPORT. Rosmorport Orders Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger

Damen Shipyards Groupsaid it has signed a contract with LLC Onego Shipyard to build a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 2000. The vessel will be built by order of FSUE Rosmorport in Petrozavodsk (the Russian Federation) and will be the sixth dredger built under the design of the Dutch company Damen. The vessel will be delivered to the customer in 2019. Construction of this new TSHD 2000 will involve Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC); the service that company provides to facilitate shipbuilding operations at a local yard of the end-client’s choice.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants Bolsters Caspian Sea Ports Supplies

Gazpromneft-Lubricants, the Gazprom Neft oil business operator, has started delivering marine lubricants in the sea port of Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan. The first supply to the Dniester dredging vessel was carried out as part of the three-year agreement with Rosmorport signed in spring, 2017. According to the agreement, Gazpromneft-Lubricants is going to deliver 1500 tons of marine lubricants to the company's vessels. The sales territory of Gazpromneft-Lubricants’ marine products under the present agreements include the Northwestern, Far Eastern, Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts of the Russian Federation. Makhachkala is the second Caspian Sea port after Astrakhan where Gazpromneft-Lubricants provides a supply of marine lube oils.

Damen TSHD Launched at Krasnoye Sormove Shipyard

A Damen Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 1000 was launched at the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard on January 29. The TSHD, named Sommers, is the lead vessel of a series of three TSHDs 1000 being built for Rosmorport. The TSHDs are scheduled for delivery this year, the contract between Rosmorport and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard having been signed in April 2014. Keel laying of the Sommers was held in November 2014. The other two dredgers are to be named Kronshlot and Kadosh respectively.

Icebreaker Murmansk was delivered December 25, 2015 at a ceremony hosted by Vyborg Shipyard PJSC (a corporate member of the United Shipbuilding Corporation). Damen Ice class Dredger for Rosmorport

This month Damen Shipyards Group launched ice class Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers TSHD 2000 for Russian Port Agency FSUE “Rosmorport”. Song Thu Corporation shipyard in Da Nang, Vietnam is building the Damen TSHD 2000 under Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS). Following delivery, the 2,000 m³ Severnaya Dvina will maintain navigational depths and provide safe shipping in the Arkhangelsk Seaport basin and approaches. The launching ceremony on 9 November was attended by the Consul-General of the Russian Federation in Da Nang Andrey Brovarets, FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Tarasenko, representatives from RMRS, Damen and from Damen's business cooperation Song Thu Corporation shipyard. Flag Raised to Russian Icebreaker Innovation

A spectacular ceremony was held on the lead vessel of the icebreaker project 21900M in St. Petersburg on 23 September, forming part of the NEVA 2015 Programme. Guests and dignitaries came together to witness the official flag-raising ceremony on board the icebreaker 'Vladivostok' and to celebrate all those involved in the project. The diesel-powered icebreakers 21900M project, a modification of project 21900, was laid down at the Vyborg Shipyard in October 2012. 'Vladivstok' is the lead vessel in the series of three diesel-electric icebreakers built for FSUE Rosmorport and classed by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Song Thu Lays Keel for New Dredger

The construction of a new vessel of dredging fleet, project TSHD 2000, has been launched to the RS class in Da Nang, Vietnam. The keel laying ceremony was held at Song Thu Corporation shipyard November 21, 2014. It was attended by Andrey Tarasenko, General Director of FSUE Rosmorport, and Pavel Shikhov, RS Chief Operating Officer. The ship has been designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. RS class notation: KM Ice1 R1 AUT2 hopper dredger. A new vessel of dredging fleet is intended for extraction and removal of spoil, dredging of fairways, channels and roads to keep waterways safe.

RS Bolsters Education, Science and Production Ties

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) said it is actively strengthening partnership in key areas of enhancing maritime transport safety. In 2014, meetings of four sections of the RS Scientific and Technical Council (STC) were held. Deep Draft Ships Can Access Northern Sea Route Port

The works carried out to deepen the approach channel to the Port of Sabetta on the Gulf of Ob in the Russian Far North have resulted in the removal of  previous restrictions on vessel call for large ships, including nuclear-powered icebreakers, report Arctic-Info. Citing a report by the press service of the Arkhangelsk branch of Rosmorport Arctic-Info report that last year the company implemented a significant amount of dredging works at the navigation approach channel in the Gulf of Ob and operational waters of the seaport.

Nordic Yards at Russia's Top Shipbuilding Fair

"Russia is and will remain an essential market for us", stated Vitaly Yusufov, owner and Managing Director of Nordic Yards. Currently there are a number of Russian contracts in the Nordic order books. For example yesterday, September 23, construction of two ice-breaking rescue and salvage ships ordered by Russia's Ministry of Transport in December 2012 started at the Nordic Yards shipyard in Wismar. After delivery in 2015 they will be used for patrol and rescue operations on the northern Polar Sea route.

Nordic Yards to Build Deckhouse for Russian Icebreaker

Nordic Yards has been awarded the tender for the construction of a deckhouse for a Russian icebreaker. A contract for the fabrication of a deckhouse as part of the superstructure for the icebreaker LK-25 was concluded between the St. Petersburg Baltic Shipyard, which is part of the Russian state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation OSK, and Germany's Nordic Yards. Hyde Guardian BWT for Russian Icebreaker

Calgon Carbon Corporation's wholly owned subsidiary, Hyde Marine, Inc., has announced  that its Hyde Guardian  Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) HG600 unit will be installed on the largest icebreaker in the FSUE "Rosmorport" fleet – the 22600 project, a 25 mWt-power diesel vessel. The contract is the first awarded to Hyde Marine in Russia for new vessel construction. The 22600 project will be delivered in 2015 and installed at Baltic Shipyard, one of the leading enterprises in the Russian shipbuilding industry. Russian Shipyard Booming, Recruits Shipbuilders

By 2013, labor staff of Baltiysky Zavod Shipbuilding Ltd (affiliate of United Shipbuilding Corporation) will increase by one third. The shipyard's backlog of orders now has grown to RUR 55-million. Revenue of Baltiysky Zavod Shipbuilding Ltd in 2012 is evaluated as RUR 12.7-billion (in the last year – RUR 1.3-billion). The company needs workers' arms and engineers' ideas to implement large state contracts, i.e. construction of a nuclear-powered 60-megawatt icebreaker for Atomflot and a diesel-electric 25-megawatt icebreaker for Rosmorport, completion of energy unit for the world's first floating nuclear power plant for Rosenergoatom.
