Moonen Shipyards Launches Megayacht

The Moonen Shipyards has launched the 290-ton Explorer 114 My Issue. Built for repeat clients, the first of the new Moonen Explorer Series, is a unique long-range research-type cruising yacht designed by René van der Velden with naval architecture by Stolk Marimecs. The Explorer 114 has a hull form featuring pronounced forward sheer. Its round-bilge steel hull has smaller, more closely spaced frames forward and reinforced shell plating at the bow. It has a Lloyd’s Register Ice Class certificate. Dynamic stabilization and bilge keels assure comfort in all conditions and at anchor. A large tender garage is abaft the engine room. Under the twin 804-bhp MTU diesels the 114 will cruise at 12 knots; with 45,000 liters of fuel the economy range is 4,500 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Regatta Yachts Seeking Semi-Commercial Yacht Builders

Regatta Yachts is offering to any shipyard experiencing a downturn in orderbook activity, the opportunity to view plans for the company's new hospitality vessels. The first (RY 25/82) is an 82-ft. round bilge steel hull with aluminum coach house, to be built to ABS and USCG certification. The second (RY 24/80) is an 80-ft. power-assisted sailing catamaran with round bilge steel hull, and full width deck-level aluminum coach house. By holding the interior fit-out contracts apart from the main build, opportunities exist for yards with great metal forming and welding skills, who do not wish to venture into the specialized field of interior joinery and systems.
