Engine Overhaul Aboard North Sea FPSO

Bluewater-owned offshore floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Haewene Brim has undergone an engine overhaul at the hands of a team of diesel power specialist Royston Limited. The 252m, 103,000dwt FPSO, powered by main generating sets consisting of four 5.2MW Wartsila W46 medium speed diesel engines, has operated in the Pierce Field in the UK sector of the North Sea since 1999 on behalf of Shell UK Exploration and Production, and last year was also linked to the Lundin-operated Brynhild field in the Norwegian sector.

Turbocharger Overhaul for Tidewater OSVs

Marine engineering teams from diesel power specialist Royston Limited have carried out the overhaul of turbochargers on two offshore supply ships operated by Tidewater Marine in the oilfields off the coast of South West Africa. Royston said its engineers completed the full overhaul of Napier NA297 turbochargers on the Melton Tide firefighting and offshore support vessel and the success of this work led to more recent service work being undertaken on the Netherland Tide, multipurpose support vessel.

Enginei Fuel Management System Upgraded

Diesel power engineering specialist Royston has introduced a next-generation version of its fuel management system, Enginei. The new integrated system, with a range of enhanced fuel data analysis and reporting options, has been developed in consultation with vessel operators and owners who are putting greater importance on the availability of detailed engine and mission critical information. To meet these demands the new Enginei system uses data collection software to expand the range of fuel, engine performance and voyage data used for crucial fuel analysis and optimization decisions.

Royston: Dangers of Non-Genuine Components Very Real

Diesel engineering specialist Royston Ltd has been appointed as the UK Service Centre for Napier Turbochargers. The appointment means that Napier customers using Newcastle-based Royston to support their turbochargers will benefit from the same quality of parts and service as those provided by the Napier Turbochargers factory. This will introduce a new level of convenience and flexibility to Napier customers while also reassuring them that only genuine Napier parts and engineering standards are being used in repairs and servicing.

Swiber First to Use Enginei in Asia

Swiber becomes first Asia operator to save costs with Enginei Fuel Management System. The Swiber Group company, Newcruz Offshore Marine Services, has become the first in the Asian market to take advantage of the cost benefits of the enginei fuel management system from Royston Limited. The system was sold by Royston’s Singapore agent, Can Traders, and was installed aboard Swiber’s new offshore support vessel, the Swiber Carina. It is being used to provide real time fuel consumption details on board and simultaneously in the head office.

Royston Earns Solstad Approval

Three weeks of intensive work late last year by engineers from Royston Limited has won praise from the operators of the Normand Installer after it was found to need an urgent engine overhaul before resuming work off West Africa. The 14,506 gt offshore construction support vessel is notable for having a 350 tonne capacity A-frame,  250 and 50 tonne heavy lift cranes, carousel cable/pipe laying system, 500 tonne anchor handling/towing winch system and DP3 dynamic positioning system.
