Rutter Releases Sigma S6 V9.2.0

Rutter Inc. has released the latest update to the Rutter sigma S6 product line, version 9.2.0. This new version is being released for general availability this week. It is also available as an upgrade on existing systems for qualifying customers.Rutter’s proprietary radar data processing system interprets data from both conventional marine navigational and coastal surveillance radars, providing enhanced radar imagery and state of the art detection, tracking, and measurement capabilities.

Ice Navigation System Selected for Magne Viking

Rutter Inc. announced that Viking Ice Consultancy selected the sigma S6 Ice Navigator system for installation on the Magne Viking, the first vessel to comply with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Polar Code approved by DNV GL. Rutter’s sigma S6 Ice Navigator system enables vessels operating in ice to differentiate between open water, ice pans, open water leads in ice fields and the ice ridges that impact operations in ice zones. Its high resolution image processing provides enhanced ice imaging for detection and tracking.

Crystal Serenity Prepares for Arctic Voyages

In preparation for cruise liner Crystal Serenity’s planned Arctic summer cruise in 2016, Crystal Cruises has selected Rutter Inc.’s sigma S6 Small Target Surveillance (STS) and Ice Navigator systems to provide enhanced small target detection of first-year and multi-year sea ice as well as other floating hazards to safe navigation. This summer’s voyage will be the world’s first luxury cruise liner to sail from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean via the Canadian Northwest Passage.

OCTOPUS-Onboard Wave Monitoring: SMM Demonstration

Amarcon, a part of the ABB group, and OceanWaveS GmbH, a fully owned subsidiary of Rutter Inc., inform they will  demonstrate an OCTOPUS-Onboard advisory suite including Wave and Surface Current Monitoring System set-up during the SMM in Hamburg, from 9 – 12 September 2014. SMM visitors are invited to view the demonstration at the Rutter booth, hall B6.FG/001. The Amarcon OCTOPUS-Onboard motion monitoring, forecasting and decision support toolkit has an interface with the Wave and Surface Current Monitoring System (WaMoS II) from OceanWaveS GmbH. WaMoS II has been developed for real time measurement of directional ocean wave spectra.

Arctic Standards Development Moves Ahead

Improving and updating Arctic design standards for material, equipment, and offshore structures for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries. Rutter Acquires OceanWaveS GmbH

Acquisition combines leaders in marine radar signal processing. Rutter Inc. (TSX: RUT) is pleased to announce it has acquired OceanWaveS GmbH of Lüneburg, Germany, a recognized industry leader in the development and supply of radar-based wave and surface current measurement technology. Rutter’s sigma S6 and OceanWaveS’ WaMoS are respected within the industry for discrimination of ice, oil, small targets, waves, currents and bathymetry from conventional navigational X-band radar. Combining OceanWaveS’ wave and current measuring capabilities with Rutter’s sigma S6 Ice Navigator will give Rutter a competitive edge in a growing offshore and coastal monitoring market.

Rutter Wins New Funding for R&D

Rutter Inc. Signs $1.4 Million Funding Contract for Ice Navigation and Detection Radar Research and Development. Canadian-based Rutter Inc. will receive $1.4 million in funding from Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador under its Arctic & Harsh Environments strategic focus area. The funds will be used to build and test an advanced radar system that is capable of providing enhanced ice navigation and detection. The integrated dual polarized ice navigation and detection radar is expected to help operators distinguish between the much harder multi-year ice and first-year ice, a major challenge for vessels operating in ice‐infested waters.

NETWAVE acquires RUTTER’s Voyage Data Recorder Division

NetWave Systems B.V. (“Netwave”) of the Netherlands acquired the Voyage Data Recorder (“VDR”) division of Rutter Inc., a public company from St. John’s (Canada) (“Rutter”). Parties concluded agreements whereby NetWave, also a manufacturer of VDRs for seagoing vessels and offshore installations, will manufacture Rutter™ VDR-100G3 systems as well as support and service all earlier models of Rutter ™ VDRs on a world-wide basis. After a transition period, during which Rutter Inc. will continue to manufacture the current VDR-100G3 product line for NetWave, NetWave will be manufacturing this product line from their manufacturing locations in Europe.

Rutter Partners on $2m Order, Integrated Oil Spill Solution

Canadian based Rutter Technologies, a division of Rutter Inc. (TSX:RUT), and its Norwegian partner, Aptomar AS, announced orders for six Integrated Oil Spill Response and Management Systems. This comes on the heels of the recent certification of the technology by the Norwegian Clean Seas Association (NOFO) following the conclusion of trials in June. The Integrated Oil Spill Response and Management System provides operators with real-time information about the volume and thickest areas of an oil slick in order to maximize recovery efforts. It combines Rutter’s Sigma S6 radar processor and display with the Aptomar SECurus system. This integration gives the operator the ability make immediate decisions on oil slick detection both onboard vessels and onshore.

Sigma S6 Oil Spill Response Radar Certified Compliant

Rutter Inc. (TSX: RUT) announced that Canadian based Rutter Technologies, a division of Rutter Inc. (TSX:RUT), has now received official notification from the Norwegian Clean Seas Association (NOFO) confirming that its Sigma S6 Oil Spill Response Radar is compliant with the NOFO standard. The NOFO Standard applies to the design of and the equipment carriage requirements for oil spill response vessels operating on the Norwegian Continental shelf. Carriage of oil spill detection radar having particular performance characteristics is one of these requirements. Representing the culmination of a two year development program, the successful implementation and testing of the automatic detection, outlining, and tracking algorithm was the final step in achieving NOFO compliance.
