Combi Lift Sets Up US Branch in Houston

German heavy lift and project logistics company Combi Lift said  its expanding its business into the Americas through the opening of a new office in Houston. “Houston is the perfect location in the U.S.A. It is one of the main project capitals in the world,” explained Klaus Hilpert, Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Combi Lift. “Solutions are becoming more complex and project risk profiles are increasing. Damen Delivers New 'Mega-barge' to Combi Lift

Shipbuilding group Damen said it has delivered the 111-meter Damen Stan Pontoon 11226 RD mega-barge Tomsk to heavy lift and project cargo shipping company Combi Lift. The barge will be used in the construction of Gazprom’s Amur Gas Processing Plant near Russia’s eastern border, transporting some of the largest components to the site.This contract follows a 19 vessel order placed with Damen by Combi Lift that was delivered in May 2018. It was comprised of four Multi Cat 2608SD workboats, four Pusher Tugs 2612SD, four Side Floaters 8605SD and seven 89-meter Stan Pontoons 8916SD.

Lebanon Hires German Firm to Remove Dangerous Material from Beirut Port

Tug Delivery Kicks Off Major Project in Russia

With the loading of eight custom-made Damen tugs, German heavy lift company Combi Lift reached a milestone in the Gazprom Amur Gas Processing Plant Project in Russia. This officially marks the transition period between the project’s planning and implementation stages.Combi Lift, contracted by the Linde Group as the exclusive logistics partner for oversized and heavy cargo, chose to cooperate with SAL Heavy Lift in this project. On behalf of Combi Lift, SAL’s Type 161B vessel MV Annette loaded eight newly built tugs in the Waalhaven in the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Harren & Partner to Acquire SAL Heavy Lift

Bremen-based shipping company Harren & Partner and "K" Line, Tokyo, have reached an agreement for Harren & Partner to acquire German carrier SAL Heavy Lift today (27 July 2017). SAL will become the new dominant player in the super heavy lift segment (900 t to 2,000 t crane capacity). SAL Heavy Lift, founded in 1980 in the "Altes Land" area near Hamburg, is one of the world's leading carriers specialised in the sea transport of heavy lift and project cargo. Its offshore subsidiary, SAL Offshore, develops and supplies installation solutions for the oil & gas and renewables sectors. Part of the "K" Line Group since 2011, SAL has access to a highly flexible fleet of 15 heavy lift vessels and a worldwide network with offices and agencies in 25 countries.

Combi Lift Orders 19 Vessels from Damen

Damen Shipyards Group said it has secured an order with German heavy lift company Combi Lift to build a total of 19 specially customized shallow draught vessels. The vessels will be used to transport oversized and heavy lift cargo for the Gazprom Amur Gas Processing Plant Project in the Russian Far East. Thorco Chairman: More Ships and IPO

Thorco sees fleet expanding by 50 pct in coming years. Multi-purpose shipping company aims to list in Copenhagen. Drewry expects industry to pick up in next few years. Denmark's Thorco Shipping expects to expand its fleet by 50 percent in coming years and plans to list on the Copenhagen stock exchange when industry conditions improve, its chairman said. "It is the plan to list Thorco Shipping's shares in Copenhagen one day but the shipping market needs to be in better condition," Chairman Thor Stadil told Reuters by telephone on Wednesday. Thorco Shipping, established 11 years ago and controlled by the Stadil family, is the world's second-biggest transporter of goods bigger than container size such as wind turbines, industrial components for oil rigs and trains.

MAN Diesel’s 32/44CR Type Approval

MAN Diesel’s 32/44CR common rail engine has now achieved Type Approval from the American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, Det Norske Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, China Classification Society and Registro Italiano Navale.

At the MAN Diesel works in Augsburg, Germany, the first production version of the 32/44CR recently completed its Type Approval program in the presence of representatives from the shipyard, the ship owner and the Classification Societies American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, Det Norske Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, China Classification Society and Registro Italiano Navale. As a result of the approval, the engine is now certified for use as both a propulsion engine and to drive shipboard generator sets.

Blue Giant, a ship with participation of the Mexican shipping company, Blue Marine, is capable of providing different products and services specialized for the offshore industry. Blue Giant has a large free deck area that allows containing repair and maintenance workshops of equipment from oil platforms. Likewise, it counts on surface and saturation diving equipment and a retention area for carrying out maintenance and repair tasks in the atmospheric and submarine area of the platform, as well as for maintenance and repair of submarine pipes. The vessel counts on a folding hatch on the stern and is capable of sinking its deck under the sea level for working as a dock containing up to 130-meter length vessels.
