Norsafe Offers Complete Safety Package for Seafarers

Norsafe has become the first lifeboat manufacturer to provide STCW and Norwegian Oil and Gas (NOROG) compliant training courses for seafarers. This means that the company is the only lifeboat manufacturer that offers production, servicing and certified training in the operation and maintenance of lifeboats and lifeboat crew. Gaining STCW approval is very timely for Norsafe as the Manila 2010 Amendments to the STCW-78 Convention stipulates that seafarers, who are qualified in the following areas, need to provide documentary proof they have recently undergone training or have been on a refresher course within the last five years by 1st January 2017.

Ocean Safety Wins UK Defense Contract

Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyer

Independent safety supplier Ocean Safety has been awarded a four year contract with the U.K.’s Ministry of Defense (MOD). This contract will see Ocean Safety continue to supply, service and repair their commercial liferafts and DBC marine evacuation systems. Direct support will be given to the Royal Navy’s current flagship HMS Bulwark and to the new fleet of Type 45 destroyers which are based in Portsmouth. Ocean Safety Equips Latest Svitzer Workboat

The U.K.’s largest independent safety supplier Ocean Safety has delivered a full safety inventory to the new workboat for Svitzer UK, as part of their ongoing contract to supply and support the U.K. fleet. The new workboat Svitzer Leven is currently undergoing sea trials and will be based and operating on the Tees. The workboat, which will be used to collect marine wastage from ships calling at the port, has been manufactured in Southampton by Southampton Marine Services Ltd. at Ocean Quay.

Ocean Safety Certified for Gas Cylinder Inspection

Independent safety supplier in the U.K., Ocean Safety, received the EC Certificate of Authorization from Lloyds Register, allowing the company to carry out all in-house certifications of gas cylinders. In accordance with the Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive 2010/35EU, Ocean Safety is now authorized to pressure test many types of cylinders including composite, welded steel, seamless steel and aluminum gas. These cylinders are used in many applications within the commercial and leisure marine markets, including cruise ships, liferaft inflation and fire suppression systems.

Transocean Appoint Lars Sjobring Senior V-P & General Counsel

Mr. Sjobring will join the company upon completion of the notice period with his current employer and will be based in Geneva, Switzerland. In the interim, Mr. Allen Katz will continue to serve as the company's Interim Senior Vice President and General Counsel. His qualifications include over 15 years of law practice in international settings, and he received his education in both Europe and the United States. Mr. Sjobring has been serving as the Vice President Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary of Autoliv, Inc., an automotive safety supplier, since 2007.

Ocean Safety Appoints New Production Manager

New Production Manager at Ocean Safety, Gary Chant

U.K. independent safety supplier Ocean Safety appointed Gary Chant as Production Manager at its Southampton base. Gary will be responsible for leading the manufacturing and production facility of Ocean Safety’s liferafts, lifejackets and a full range of other safety equipment. The facility has recently seen a significant expansion, in particular as a result of a contract to supply liferafts to the RNLI’s fleet. “Gary’s role will establish a streamlined and efficient manufacturing facility that will track our growing demand,” commented Ocean Safety’s Managing Director Charlie Mill.

Ocean Safety Secures Contract with Royal Netherlands Navy

The UK’s largest independent safety supplier, Ocean Safety, has concluded a contract to supply its Jonbuoy man overboard recovery systems to the Royal Netherlands Navy. The Jonbuoy, an automatically inflating recovery device which is designed to make simple work of hoisting a person back on board a ship or yacht, is directly manufactured by Ocean Safety.
