InterMoor Completes Saipem UK Contract

InterMoor Marine Services Ltd., an Acteon company, has completed a Saipem UK Ltd. (Sonsub Division) contract to perform positioning and heading control for the hook-up operations of a new floating production, storage and offloading(FPSO) unit in a depth of 815 meters in the Aquila Field, Adriatic Sea, Italy. Initiated in August 2010, the agreement included carrying out FPSO positioning and heading control analyses; analyzing optimized anchor handling scenarios for the FPSO mooring hook-up; and producing marine and survey procedures.

Bayliss Joins IMCA as Technical Advisor

A new Technical Adviser, Paul Bayliss, has joined the expanding London secretariat of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). He will help to manage the significant work programme of the Association supporting members towards safer and more efficient marine operations. These include offshore construction, dynamically positioned vessels, offshore diving, remotely systems and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and offshore positioning/surveying (hydrographic and condition survey). “We are welcoming Paul at a particularly busy time,” explained IMCA’s Chief Executive, Hugh Williams. “Our membership is increasing dramatically, as is the association’s work programme.

Aker Yards to Build Construction Vessel

Aker Yards has entered into a contract with Farstad Shipping ASA for the building of one Construction Vessel with a value of approx $135m. Aker Yards, Langsten is to build a 398 x 85 ft. construction vessel for Farstad, based on the Rolls-Royce design; UT 761 CD. The Vessel is scheduled for delivery from Aker Yards, Langsten in the fourth quarter of 2008. The vessel will after delivery enter into a long term charter with Saipem UK Ltd. The vessel is specially designed for plough duties in connection with pipe laying of oil and gas pipes offshore. The vessel will have a Bollard Pull of more then 350 tons, and all equipment necessary to support the most challenging operations and environments world wide.
