NAPA signs Up for Inmarsat’s IoT Service

Inmarsat and NAPA have signed an agreement to enable ship owners and ship managers to access and analyze real-time onboard data more efficiently through a dedicated application hosted on Inmarsat’s new Fleet Data IoT service.Developed by Inmarsat and Danelec Marine, and made commercially available earlier this year, Fleet Data collects data from onboard sensors, pre-processes that data, and uploads it to a central cloud-based database equipped with a dashboard and an Application Process Interface (API).NAPA will then use this data to offer services for vessel performance monitoring…

MarineMTS Strikes Equity Deal with SRH Marine Electronics

Stonehaven-based marine technology company MarineMTS has struck an equity funding deal with SRH Marine SAIT (trading as SRH Marine Electronics). The deal will see the North-east business benefit from a multimillion dollar funding package, and through SRH Marine’s existing customer base, unlock access to approximately 15,000 vessels which could benefit from MarineMTS’ latest ‘Silverbox’ technology. Speedcast Selected by Gulf Marine Services

SpeedCast International Limited (SpeedCast), a global satellite telecommunications service provider, announced that it has been awarded a multi-year communications contract from Gulf Marine Services (GMS). The new dual-beam Ku-band satellite service will provide high-performance broadband connectivity for client office applications and voice services across nine GMS barges. GMS is one of the largest providers of self-propelled, self-elevating accommodation jack-up barges in the world. The vessels work in offshore oilfields, often in harsh weather conditions, and therefore require a reliable and high-quality connection between the vessels and the land-based operations.

The next generation of engineering and maritime stars was recognized at the annual Maritime and Engineering College North West (MECNW) Apprenticeship Awards. The ceremony on November 14, held at MECNW in Birkenhead, celebrated the achievements of learners across 11 different award categories which were presented by former Liverpool FC and England player and coach Sammy Lee. George Day, from Peel Ports, was named overall Apprentice of the Year and also Peel Apprentice of the Year.

SAIT-Stento To Issue 1.2M New Shares

Communications services group SAIT-Stento will issue 1.2 million new shares at a maximum price of 32 euros each to make its stock more liquid and raise money for future acquisitions. SAIT-Stento, recently formed through the merger of Belgian communications services group Sait-RadioHolland and Norwegian telecommunications equipment maker Stento SAS, also said it expects to break even or even post better results in 2000. Revenues for the combined company should rise above year-ago levels on a pro-forma basis, it added. The merger partners posted combined revenues of 396 million euros in 1999. SAIT-Stento will offer to sell 70 percent of the 1.2 million shares to existing shareholders and the remaining 30 to the public. SAIT-Stento reportedly plans to change its name in the next few months.

Sait-Stento Goes Inland With Satcom

Sait-Stento has expanded its satellite communication services to address the communication needs of onshore users in addition to its maritime user base. The company's services include traffic accounting activities, airtime selling and value added services. Adding on to this will be ISDN high-speed data technology. Sait-Stento's Airtime Services Business Unit (ATS) is launching a special program for mobile users and telecommunication operators called M4Land, which is one of the largest Inmarsat providers in the world.

Sait-Stento To Divest Sait Communications

Sait-Stento has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Telenor Broadband Services, a subsidiary of Telenor with plans to sell all of its shares in Sait Communications to Telenor for approximately $28.2 million. The transaction and consideration is subject to due diligence and board approval from the above-mentioned parties. It is estimated that final negotiations are to be completed by the end of February 2001.
