Wärtsilä Corp. Interim Report

Ole Johansson, President and CEO said, "The third quarter was strong for Wärtsilä at all levels, as net sales developed according to plan, profitability was strong, and cash flow from operating activities was at an all time high level. As a result of this positive development we now expect our profitability to exceed 10% for the year 2010. The improvements in Wärtsilä's market environment that started in the second quarter have continued, and we expect the order intake for the full year to clearly exceed last year's levels. Based on the current order book and a stable service business we expect net sales to decline by approximately 15 percent in 2010 and our operational profitability (EBIT% before nonrecurring items) to be better than earlier expected and to exceed 10%.

Gdynia To Take Stake in Finnish Yard

Poland's Gdynia Shipyard is likely to take up 20-25 percent of shares in the Finnish Kvaerner Masa-Yards, Gdynia's chief executive Janusz Szlanta said last week. "Negotiations with other investors are still under way and nothing final has been decided yet. Everything points to the fact that Gdynia will take up a stake of between 20 and 25 percent," Szlanta said. "Four groups of investors will buy a new share issue, addressed only to them. The Gdynia shipyard wants to increase its stake in Masa-Yards in the future, but that will not happen sooner than in a year," Szlanta said. He declined to name the value of the transaction, adding final negotiations would probably end in two months.

Gdynia May Take Stake in Kvaerner Masa-Yards

Poland's Gdynia shipyard is likely to take a percentage of shares in the Finnish Kvaerner Masa-Yards, Gdynia's officials said. Negotiations with other investors are still under way, they said, but all indicators suggest that Gdynia will take up a stake of between 20 and 25 percent. Apart from Gdynia, Masa-Yards investors include a group of the Finnish shipyard's management, suppliers and insurer Sampo, Kvaerner and Royal Caribbean, a regular buyer of the shipyard's vessels. After radical restructuring in he early 1990s, Gdynia is now the world's eighth biggest shipyard and through buying into Masa-Yards wants to diversify its production.
