Samudera in $70mln LNG Deal

Samudera Indonesia has won a $70 million contract for supplying liquefied-natural gas to a power plant operated by state gold miner Aneka Tambang in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi. The company will assign one of its 50 ships to serve the plant, managing director Bani Mulia said. "Our target is to start supplying [the LNG] next year," he said. The company will  initially deploy 1-2 vessels and will gradually increase to six vessels to serve the contract. The length of the contract was not disclosed. The Indonesian company has set aside $120m with which to buy up to six ships this year, including oil tankers, LNG carriers and container vessels. Samudera Indonesia is also taking part in a tender to procure an FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) for state energy company PT Pertamina.

ECDIS Ordered for 20 Indonesia Surveillance Vessels

Transas ECDIS has been selected for installation on board 20 surveillance vessels under operation of the Directorate General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Surveillance, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (PSDKP ā€“ KKP), Republic of Indonesia. The systems will be supplied and installed in cooperation with the Transas long-term local partner PT MultiIntegra. ā€œTransas ECDIS will be integrated with main sensors such as GPS, Gyro, Speed Log, Wind Sensor and also AIS Transponder that can be operated in silence mode,ā€ said Director of Surveillance Vessel ā€“ Directorate General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Surveillance Ir. GAC's Enlarged Indonesian Warehouse Completed

An additional 15,000 square metres has been added to the PT GAC Samudera Logistics (GSL) warehouse & distribution centre in Lippo Cikarang. The addition boosts the company's standing as one of Indonesia's largest third-party logistics (3PL) providers. The new facility opened by PT GAC Samudera, a joint venture between global shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC and the Samudera Indonesia Group, now covers 36,000 square metres and offers 60,500 pallet positions, making it the largest single-unit distribution facility in the GAC Group. Based in West Java's largest industrial area 45 km from Jakarta Airport, the centre is designed to provide customers with cost-effective warehousing solutions on a monthly 'pay by use' basisā€¦

Samudera Orders Two

PT Samudera Indonesia reportedly entered into an agreement with STX Shipbuilding to buy a pair of bulk carriers for $97.6m, the Jakarta Post reported. Upon delivery, the vessels will be deployed on a time-charter contract and are expected to increase Samudera's capacity to meet the demand for bulk carrier services. Samudera currently operates 20 vessels.

Naming of Rickmers Jakarta Celebrated in Jakarta

Rickmers-Linie celebrated the naming naming of a seventh new Superflex Heavy MPC vessel on April 2. Mrs Minarsih Soedarpo Sastrosatomo, wife of Mr Soedarpo Sastrosatomo, Chairman of the Samudera Indonesia Group, acted as the sponsor for Rickmers Jakarta. The ceremony took place at berth 303 of Tanjung Priok Pelabuhan III on what was her second call in Jakarta. Rickmers Jakarta was delivered from her builders - Xiamen Shipyard in Xiamen on November 28 last year and has now completed her first eastbound voyage within the Round-The-World Pearl String Service. Like her sisterships, Rickmers Jakarta's in-service performance has been excellent. Rickmers-Linie has long lasting relations with Indonesia, with the first vessel calling Jakarta in the late 1860s.

Rickmers-Linie Adds Ships to Middle East/India Service

Rickmers-Linie, Hamburg, signed a long-term chartering agreement with Samudera Indonesia, Jakarta, securing additional modern capacity to complement its existing fleet deployed on its Middle East and India service. The two multipurpose vessels chartered by Rickmers are the 8,900 dwt Sinar Kudus and 9,100 dwt Ardhianto, built in Japan in 1994 and 1999 respectively. Both ships have box-shaped holds and ā€˜tweendecks. Shipboard cranes enable Sinar Kudus to lift individual pieces of cargo weighing up to 60 tonnes and Ardhianto 50 tonnes. The first vessel to load for Rickmers under this new charter agreement will be Sinar Kudus in late August.
