Thailand Tourist Ferry Sinks, 7 Dead 100 Injured

A tourist ferry has capsized in Thailand, near the beach resort city of Pattaya. 200 Thai and foreign tourists were on the (allegedly overloaded) double-decker ferry reports RT News. Marines from Thailand’s Sattahip Naval Base have been deployed to search for the ship and missing passengers. The number of missing people has not been officially confirmed, but RT cite local media as reporting that at least 20 are missing. Source: RT News

An integrated humanitarian assistance disaster relief scenario by the US & Thai navies was included in a simulated earthquake & tsunami in Rayong Province during the CARAT Thailand 2013 joint exercises. The Thailand phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise 2013 ended with a closing ceremony at Sattahip Naval Base, June 12, following nearly two weeks of training ashore and at sea. Warship Received by Royal Thai Navy

The Royal Thai Navy has officially received the first Endurance-class landing platform dock ship, HTMS Angthong (LPD-791) at Laem Thien Port, Sattahip naval base in Chon Buri, Thailand. The design of the LPD is proprietary to ST Marine and is based on its Endurance Class of LPDs.
