Odfjell’s WindGrid Floating Wind System Passes Milestone, Aims to Help O&G cut Emissions

DNV completed a concept verification review of Odfjell Oceanwind’s WindGrid (WindGrid) system for Mobile Offshore Wind Units (MOWUs). DNV’s review confirms the technical feasibility of the WindGrid system, and that expected reductions in CO2-emissions for North Sea applications are in the range of 60-70%, compared to generation of electricity from conventional gas turbines.Odfjell’s WindGrid is a solution for providing an uninterrupted power supply from Mobile Offshore Wind Units (MOWUs) to micro-grids.

Iskenderun Selects FASTAR Coating for Five Bulkers

Nippon Paint Marine said it has secured a first reference for its new self-polishing antifouling paint FASTAR following an agreement with Turkey’s Iskenderun Ship Management to apply the coating to five bulk carriers scheduled to drydock in China this year.The Panamax ships Ata-M and Toros-M will drydock at COSCO’s Guangzhou shipyard in May and June respectively, with the 31,700dwt Selin-M, 32,949dwt Nihat-M, and the 50,212dwt Bozburun-M scheduled to follow in the second half of the year.FASTAR XI…

More than 80 maritime professionals attended two one-day events focused on the sub IMO / sub 80-ft. sector in Southampton, U.K. this Spring. The Man Overboard Prevention & Recovery Workshop brought together an international group of experts armed with the latest knowledge to identify problems that affect the maritime sector worldwide. Otto Marine Send Two AHTS to GoM, One to W. Africa

Offshore marine services firm Otto Marine informs it has obained a total of US$24.9 million in charter contracts for three offshore vessels – Redfish 4, Go Canopus and Go Altair. Redfish 4, an 8,000bhp Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel equipped with dynamic positioning 2 capabilities will be deployed for work on long term charter in Mexico. Go Canopus, a 10,800bhp AHTS vessel built in 2009 with DP2 technology has been contracted on long term charter, also for work in the Gulf of Mexico.

Otto Marine Name Multi-Purpose OSV at Indonesia Shipyard

Singapore-based Otto Marine inform it has named the 'Norshore Atlantic' –  which it considers to be the first vessel of its kind to be constructed in Asia –  at its Batam Shipyard in Indonesia. The new offshore service vessel has been built to the MT6022XL Norwegian design. The highly complex vessel classed by DNV is equipped with dynamic positioning 3 (‘DP3’) capability, and is primarily designed for riserless operation utilizing known and field proven technology. Otto Marine Fixes AHTS Long Term Charter

Singapore's Otto Marine says it has secured a long-term US$11.3-Million charter contract for its Anchor Handling Tug 'Go Emerald'. The owners inform that Go Emerald will be deployed for work on long term charter in West Australian waters for a renowned oil and gas player. Built in 2009, the vessel is a 2,800 bhp Anchor Handling Tug vessel of 423.6 dwt and with a 36.5 tons bollard pull. "The global offshore oil and gas industry is thriving, and we are pleased to see that Otto Marine is partaking in this positivity with a good charter contract momentum from around the world.

Otto Marine Bags US$40-Million Offshore Vessel Charter

Singapore-based Otto Marine say they have secured a long-term charter contract for their AHTS 'Go Pegasus', which was recently deliverd from their own Indonesia shipyard in Batam, Indonesia. Go Pegasus will soon be mobilized and deployed to the North Sea where she will work for the summer season before commencing its term contract from September 2014. As part of the contract, the client also has options to extend the contract for an undisclosed period. The new offshore vessel is a Norwegian designed and DNV classed anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel.

Lubricant Usage Standards in the 2013 Vessel General Permit

Environmentally acceptable lubricants required in Oil-to-Sea interfaces where technically feasible. With the recent release of the 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP), vessel owner/operators must review their operational practices for incidental discharge of lubricants to the marine environment. Lubricant discharge limits from oil-to-sea interfaces are just one of 27 specific discharge categories covered by the VGP for vessels to achieve compliance with the US Clean Water Act (CWA).

Singapore Firm Changes Shipyard Executive Team

Otto Marine, owners & operators of Indonesia's largest shipyard, announces changes to it senior management. Mr. Mr. Mr. Deputy President Mr. Mr. Aw Chin Leng has voluntarily resigned from his position as Executive Director and Deputy President due to personal reasons. He was previously responsible for the general management of all shipyard activities and general operational management. Otto Marine Limited is an offshore marine group engaged in specialized shipbuilding of offshore vessels for primarily deep sea applications. The shipbuilding work includes ship repair and conversion and fabrication. In addition, Otto Marine charters out its own fleet of Anchor Handling Tugs and Offshore Supply vessels for mainly deep sea operations.

Otto Marine Wins Two AHTS Construction Contracts

Singapore headquartered Otto Marine to build two Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels for an Indonesian operator. The new shipbuilding contracts, with a total value of US$27.8 million are for constructing two identical units of 5,150 bhp Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels (or AHTS). The two AHTS will be approximately 62 meters in length and will be constructed to meet ABS class requirements. The contracts were awarded by an un-named Indonesian operator that owns and operates a fleet of offshore and other vessels. The vessels are to be delivered in the second half of 2014. Mr Michael See, Group Chief Financial Officer, said: “During the last year or so, we focused our resources under our shipbuilding segment towards finishing and delivering the orders that were on hand.

Singapore-based Otto Marine sells Work Maintenance Vessel 'Oranda 1' for US$38.0-million, simultaneously bareboat-chartered back for GofM work. The sales transaction sets to improve the Group’s cash flow and balance sheet. Oranda 1, of LOA 75 m  is an ABS-classed 4,200bhp Work Maintenance Vessel that has completed 4 projects in South East Asia since May 2010. Contemporaneous with the sales transaction, the Group’s subsidiary, Karp Marine Limited, has bareboat chartered back the vessel for a period of 5 years.

Trelleborg’s Acquisition of Business In offshore Oil and Gas

Trelleborg’s acquisition of a business in the offshore oil and gas industry in Brazil from a subsidiary of Veyance Technologies has been finalized. The business focuses on specially designed oil hoses for surface and deep-sea applications for the strongly growing offshore oil and gas extraction industry in Brazil.
