Seaspan to Build Four New 4250 TEU Vessels

Seaspan Corporation announced that it has signed contracts to build four 4250 TEU vessels at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in China. These new orders are in addition to the ten 2500 TEU vessels Seaspan previously ordered from Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a shipyard affiliated with Jiangsu. The four newbuilding vessels are scheduled to be delivered between March and September, 2009. The total delivered cost is expected to be approximately $66.1m per vessel, subject to certain pre-delivery expenses remaining at budgeted levels. Seaspan also announced that it has arranged simultaneous six-year charter agreements for these four vessels with Compania SudAmerica de Vapores SA (CSAV) of Chile at a rate of $25,925 per day.

Seaspan Exercises Option for Four New Vessels

Seaspan Corporation exercised its option to build four 2500 TEU vessels at Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in China. This option was part of the February transaction with YZJ that included the firm order of four 2500 vessels and options to build eight more at the same price. These new orders will increase the company's total fleet to 33 vessels when the vessels are delivered between May and August 2009. The total delivered cost is expected to be approximately $44.7m per vessel, subject to certain pre-delivery expenses remaining at budgeted levels. Seaspan also announced that it has arranged simultaneous 12-year charter agreements for these four vessels with China Shipping Container Lines (Asia) Co. Ltd. at an initial rate of $16,750 per day, increasing to $16,900 per day after six years.

Seaspan Signs Contract for New 2500 TEU Vessels

Seaspan Corporation has signed a contract to build four 2500 TEU vessels from Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in China. These new orders are incremental to Seaspan's original contracted fleet and will increase the company's total fleet to 29 vessels. The four newbuilding vessels will be delivered between September 2008 and March 2009. The total delivered cost is expected to be approximately $44.5 million per vessel, subject to certain pre-delivery expenses remaining at budgeted levels. Seaspan also announced that it has arranged simultaneous twelve-year charter agreements for these four vessels with China Shipping Container Lines (Asia) Co. Ltd. ("CSCL Asia") at an initial rate of $16,750 per day, increasing to $16,900 per day after six years.

Seaspan Buys Two Ships

Seaspan Corporation announced that it has agreed to purchase two new building vessels from affiliates of Conti Holding GmbH & Co. KG of Germany, increasing Seaspan’s total fleet to 25 vessels. Seaspan will acquire the two 3,500 TEU vessels upon their delivery in February and July 2007 respectively from Zhejiang Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in China. The total delivered cost is expected to be approximately $50 million per vessel, subject to certain pre-delivery expenses remaining at budgeted levels. Seaspan also announced that it has arranged simultaneous twelve-year charter agreements for these vessels with Cosco Container Lines Co., Ltd. at $19,000 per day.
