Wärtsilä Completes Senitec Acquisition

Senitec, the Swedish oil and water treatment solutions supplier, has now been fully integrated into Wärtsilä Corporation, marking the final stage of the company's acquisition process.Wärtsilä acquired Senitec in February 2007 and the company has operated as a separate legal entity under the name Wärtsilä As of June 1, Wärtsilä Senitec has merged with Wärtsilä and now forms part of Wärtsilä Sweden AB. Wärtsilä Wins Retrofit Order for Oily Water Separators

Wärtsilä has received a major order from Swedish shipowner Laurin The contract, signed in March 2008, calls for six Wärtsilä Senitec M1000 oily water separation units to be delivered in mid April 2008. The units will be retrofitted to six of the company's vessels and will replace existing systems, thus upgrading their oily water treatment performance to market-leading standards. The order also includes six SolidPac units to handle solid residues. Wärtsilä earned this order on the basis of the separators' discharge performance, the sustainability of this performance over time, their simplicity of operation, and the very short payback time of less than one year. Approval of the separators by the US Coast Guard was a prerequisite, as most of the ships to be retrofitted are based in the .

Wärtsilä Acquires Swedish Environmental Tech Company

Wärtsilä has signed an agreement to acquire the Swedish company Senitec AB in Varberg. The company is privately-owned and specializes in environmental technology products for separating waste such as oily water and sludge in power plants, harbours and ships. Senitec has 5 employees. This new business gives Wärtsilä the possibility to expand its offering of environmental solutions in waste management. The acquisition supports Wärtsilä's strategy to provide total solutions and packages to customers in all its business sectors: Wärtsilä Ship Power, Wärtsilä Power Plants and Wärtsilä Services. On joining Wärtsilä, Senitec will benefit from Wärtsilä's technical knowledge of specific business segments as well as its marketing and distribution network worldwide, providing a good basis for growth.
