Titan LNG Christens FlexFueler001

Netherlands-based service supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG), Titan LNG has christened its liquefied natural gas bunkering barge, the FlexFueler001, in the port of Amsterdam.The event marks the official commencement of safe, efficient and cost-effective inland waterway LNG bunkering in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.At the event in the Port of Amsterdam a mix of LNG fellow travellers gathered, including customers, business partners, and manufactures of the FlexFueler. Zeaborn: 100 vessels to be EU Hazardous Compliant

Germany’s Zeaborn Ship Management has contracted Verifavia Shipping and the Korean Register (KR) to perform inventory of hazardous materials (IHM) preparation and certification for over 100 vessels.The vessels are managed by Zeaborn Ship Management, a consolidation of E.R. Survitec Receives DNV GL Certification

British manufacturer of  marine safety and survival equipments Survitec has received DNV GL Z-17 certification as a class-approved service provider for all DNV-GL classed vessels operating various brands of safety and survival equipment, including lifeboats, liferafts, marine evacuation systems (MES) and fire-fighting equipment and breathing apparatus.“The certification means that all Survitec sites carrying out work on lifeboats, fire-fighting equipment, SCBA and LSA to ships and mobile offshore units (MOU) to SOLAS standards are included in the Z-17 approval,” said Mats Hestmann, Group Quality, Health and Safety Manager, Survitec.“Survitec is also approved to carry out class-approved annual inspections services…

Nor Lines Cargo Vessels to Bunker with Titan LNG

Shipping company Nor Lines has allocated its two LNG-powered multipurpose vessels to a biweekly liner service from the SCA terminal in Rotterdam to the Norwegian coast. Titan LNG, the service supplier of liquefied natural gas, will be supplying the chilled fuel to two Nor Lines' vessels - The MV Kvitnos and the MV Kvitbjørn. The ships are bunkering, like the Wes Amelie, with Titan LNG at the City Terminal in the Prins Willem Alexander harbour (port number 2790). The LNG is delivered to the vessels by trucks. The Port of Rotterdam and Titan LNG have set up the site temporarily to bunker LNG to sea-going vessels until there are sufficient LNG bunker barges available. Nor lines is a fully owned subsidiary of the shipping company Samskip.

SeaSafe Marine Wins Höegh Contract

SeaSafe Marine has signed a sole service supplier agreement with Höegh-Wallem Ship Management Inc. to provide services and spares for the lifeboat systems on their fleet’s 38 vessels. "The tender process for this appointment was very competitive but we were able to offer assurances on service delivery and scope of benefits and that we will provide Höegh with the proactive support that they require,” Andrew said. This appointment brings the total number of third-party vessels under formal contract with SeaSafe Marine to over 170.

Wärtsilä, PGS ink Service Deal

Wärtsilä and PGS Geophysical AS have signed a service agreement that makes Wärtsilä the preferred service supplier for engines and other Wärtsilä equipment. According to the agreement, Wärtsilä will take care of the maintenance of engines and propulsion systems on board PGS's fleet of 8 seismic vessels, securing maximum uptime as well as safe and economic operations. PGS's seismic vessels are used for mapping and analysing the subsurface beneath the ocean floor for oil and gas exploration around the world. The 3-year-agreement was signed in December 2016 and it includes an option for two extra years. In the first phase of the contract Wärtsilä will optimise the operations and maintenance of the Wärtsilä engines and propulsion systems installed on board PGS's vessels.

Roxtec Services AB has been audited by the classification society Lloyd’s Register and has received an official approval for inspection and maintenance services of cable and pipe transits. This approval sets new standards for long-term safety at sea. Roxtec Services AB is part of cable and pipe sealing solution provider Roxtec Group. The company offers services for the marine and offshore industries, including onsite inspections, repair recommendations, supervision and maintenance work concerning cable and pipe transits on ships and offshore units.

Masterbulk, SeaSafe Ink Lifeboat Service Deal

Masterbulk Singapore has entered into a five-year global sole service supplier agreement with the Wallem Group’s lifeboat maintenance service company, SeaSafe Marine. The agreement is for lifeboat services on Masterbulk’s fleet of 20 open hatch gantry crane vessels. CWind Orders More Composite Workboats

CTruk has won an order for two more of its 22m multi-purpose catamaran Wind Farm Service Vessels (WFSVs). Both will be delivered to offshore wind service supplier CWind this summer as the first-of-class CWind Sword continues to impress on the EnBW Baltic 2 Offshore Wind Farm in Germany. Radio Holland Wins Ahrenkiel Contract

Ahrenkiel Steamship GmbH & Co. KG and Radio Holland Germany GmbH, part of Imtech Marine, have agreed a long-term maintenance agreement for the entire Ahrenkiel Steamship fleet, which comprises nearly 60 vessels. Based in Hamburg, Ahrenkiel Steamship Group is a leading, independent ship owner and provider of ship management services, with its roots dating back more than 150 years. In April 2014, the Christian F. Ahrenkiel Group merged with a joint venture established by the MPC Group, thereby pooling the fleet of Ahrenkiel Shipmanagement, MPC Steamship and Thien & Heyengathe fleet consisting of container vessels and bulk carriers. This unique and world leading app delivers up-to-the-minute information on vessels, fleets, surveys, audits, port state control and more direct to a smart phone or tablet. Surveyors and others working in the field are now able to access this vital survey and technical information rapidly and without fuss while on the move. AMSEC Employee Honored for Safety Idea

Huntington Ingalls Industries' AMSEC subsidiary employee, Casey Tarnowski, wins annual safety suggestion award. The annual Safety Suggestion Award contest is hosted by the Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA). Casey Tarnowski was honored for his stanchion stabilizer, which prevents stanchions from rolling off flight decks and preventing them from being dropped through flight deck stanchion holes on aircraft carriers. He received the award and a $500 cash prize from Brian Applewhite, VSRA's safety committee chair, at the VSRA's recent general membership meeting.

Transas Marine Receives Approvals

Transas Marine has received RINA and Lloyds Register approvals to perform Radio Communication equipment survey and VDR/SVDR Annual Performance Testing. The RINA certification authorizes Transas service engineers to perform inspections of vessels’ Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) communication equipment and annual performance test of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR/SVDR). The renewed Lloyds Register “Approval of Service Supplier” includes survey, performance testing and maintenance of Radio Communications equipment, AIS, LRIT and SSAS; and annual performance testing of VDR/SVDR. With these approvals Transas Marine can offer combined VDR APT and Radio Survey, which will result in cost and time saving for our customers.
