Seacat Kicks Off 3-vessel Charter with Equinor

Equinor Picks Stowen for Sheringham Shoal

Great Yarmouth-based Stowen Clean Energy has secured a maintenance contract with Equinor for its Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm off the North Norfolk coast in the UK.As per contract, Stowen will deliver a cathodic protection system for the substations for the 317MW offshore wind farm.The work will take place Q4 2019 – Q1 2020. Statoil Green Lights Floating Wind Farm Project

Statoil has made the final investment decision to build the world’s first floating wind farm: The Hywind pilot park offshore Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The decision triggers investments of around NOK 2 billion, realizing a 60-70 percent cost reduction per MW from the Hywind demo project in Norway. Statoil will install a 30 MW wind turbine farm on floating structures at Buchan Deep, 25 kilometers offshore Peterhead, harnessing Scottish wind resources to provide renewable energy to the mainland. The wind farm will power around 20,000 households. Statoil Awards Siemens Wind Farm Service Contracts

As operator, Statoil has awarded two contracts to Siemens plc for the engineering, supply, assembly, commissioning and service of 67 wind turbine generators for the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm project. The wind turbine generator (WTG) supply contract will cover engineering, procurement, assembly and offshore commissioning. UK's Dudgeon Wind Farm Project Taken Over

Statoil and Statkraft buy out all shares in UK energy company Warwick Energy subsidiary Dudgeon Offshore Wind (DOW). Following a successful partnership in developing the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of North Norfolk, Statoil and Statkraft will now work together to develop the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm. The project could deliver many hundreds of jobs during the construction phase and, once in operation, will provide renewable energy to the UK market. The North Sea project site is located 32 km offshore, north of the town of Cromer in North Norfolk, and is 20 km north east of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm. The Dudgeon site has recently received an offshore consent that allows for up to 560 MW of installed generation capacity.

Statoil and Statkraft have acquired the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm project through the acquisition of all shares in Dudgeon Offshore Wind Limited (DOW), a subsidiary of the UK energy company Warwick Energy Limited. Norway’s Crown Prince Opens Offshore Wind Farm

Today His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will officially open the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm built off the coast of Norfolk by owners Statoil and Statkraft. The Crown Prince will open the wind farm at an official ceremony at historic Holkham Hall in North Norfolk with support from UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Edward Davey; Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe; Minister of Trade and Industry, Trond Giske; and the owners’ presidents and CEOs, Helge Lund from Statoil and Christian Rynning-Tønnesen from Statkraft. Sheringham Shoal is owned equally by Statoil and Statkraft through the joint-venture company Scira Offshore Energy Limited.

New Safer Vessel Transfer System

Scira Offshore Energy, operator of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, will utilise a new UK-designed vessel transfer system to provide its wind farm technicians with safe and reliable access to wind turbines in a range of weather conditions. The safe transfer of wind farm technicians from vessels to the turbines is a key challenge for the industry. This new transfer system, known as MaXcess and produced by Northumberland-based OSBIT Power Limited, has been chosen for Sheringham Shoal following extensive trials, including at Statoil’s Hywind demonstration floating wind turbine in Norway.

Damen Receives HSSV Orders & Options

MarineCo UK orders another two offshore wind High Speed Support Vessels with Damen Shipyards. Order comprises 2 HSSVs and an option for 2 more. Scottish offshore service provider MarineCo UK has placed an order at Damen Shipyards for two more High Speed Support Vessels (HSSVs). Since taking delivery of Damen’s first-ever HSSV 2610 Twin Axe in June and the second one in the last week of December, the MarineCo Shamal and MarineCo Mariah have shown striking performance when working on offshore wind farms, according to Managing Director Mike Conafray.

Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm Guard Vessel

A guard vessel is now in operation on the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm to ensure the safety of marine traffic around the foundation installation sites and along the export cable corridor. The 118-ft vessel, Jadi, has been contracted from UK-based marine solutions company, Offshore Marine Management. Her key role is to assist the heavy-lift vessel, Svanen, which is now installing the monopiles and transition pieces, by alerting other vessels such as fishing and sailing boats, of the location of its eight anchor buoys and ensuring they stay clear of the construction area.

Project Report: Sheringham Shoal Goes Offshore

On June 24, the first foundation was installed at sea for the Sheringham Shoal offshore wind project. Construction work on land is already well underway, and the 88-turbine wind farm is scheduled to start operation in 2011. The first of 90 monopile foundations was installed off the Norfolk coast by the heavy lift vessel “Svanen”. Over the next nine months, the vessel will install the remaining 89 foundations ready for the mounting of two substations and 88 wind turbines. “On land, we’re already well ahead, the substation is nearing its final form, and the onshore cable is nearly finished.

Cathelco ICCP for Concept Jack-Up

Cathelco is supplying an ICCP hull corrosion protection system for a new type of jack-up vessel which is being constructed for Master Marine of Norway who specialize in the transport and installation of heavy structures for the offshore energy industry. The vessel, known as Service Jack 2, will initially be used to install wind turbines in the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm which is located in the Greater Wash approximately 9 miles north of the town of Sheringham in Norfolk, United Kingdom.

StatoilHydro, Statkraft Develop Offshore Wind

A new wind farm, to be developed by StatoilHydro and Statkraft, which will consist of 88 turbines, is planned to start production in 2011. When fully operational, its annual electricity production is expected to be around 1.1TWh, enough energy to power around 220,000 UK homes. Total investments are estimated at approximately $1.5b. Until now, the 315 MW Sheringham Shoal project has been owned 100% by StatoilHydro. Through an agreement, Statkraft will acquire 50% of the shares in the project, thus becoming an equal partner with StatoilHydro.
