Scorpio Tankers Takes Delivery of Three Product Tankers

Scorpio Tankers Inc. (NYSE: STNG) announced that it took delivery of three product tankers that the company previously agreed to acquire. Two of the tankers are LR1 ice class-1A sister ships, STI Harmony (73,919 dwt) and STI Heritage (73,919 dwt). The third vessel delivered is a Handymax ice class-1B ship, STI Conqueror (40,158 dwt). STI Harmony and STI Heritage have existing time charter contracts of $25,500 per day, per ship, plus 50% profit sharing over the base rate. The time charters expire in October 2010 (plus or minus 30 days) for STI Harmony and in January 2011 (plus or minus 30 days) for STI Heritage. The time charters, which were signed in 2007, are with a related party of Scorpio Tankers.

Scorpio Tankers to Purchase Handymax Tankers

Scorpio Tankers Inc. (NYSE: STNG) announced that it entered into agreements to purchase four double hulled Handymax tankers for an aggregate purchase price of $99m. The ships, which are charter free, are scheduled to be delivered between May and September 2010. Three of the ships were built at the Shina Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in South Korea (two in 2003, one in 2005). The fourth ship was built at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea in 2007. Sixty-Nine prominent shipping industry executives have been elected as new members of ABS. In addition, Rear Admiral David L. Brewer III, Commander, Military Sealift Command, U.S. Navy, was appointed as a member. This brings the ABS worldwide membership to 803. Stolt-Nielsen Orders Four Tankers

Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group (SNTG), a subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen S.A., announced that it has signed an agreement with SLS Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. for four 44,000 deadweight ton (dwt) parcel tankers. The aggregate price for the four ships is expected to be approximately $340 million, with deliveries scheduled to take place between mid 2010 and early 2011. The SLS newbuildings will have a combination of 24 stainless steel tanks and 15 coated tanks. The main dimensions of the ships will follow the design of the four parcel tankers that SNTG announced ordering in June 2005 from ShinA Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. of South Korea, which was acquired by SLS earlier this year. SNTG will have options from SLS for an additional four ships.
