Wärtsilä, the marine industry's leading ship power system integrator, strengthens its offering in the mid-size, low-speed engine sector by adding new 62- and 72-bore low-speed engines to its portfolio. These standardised engines offer high propulsion efficiency, reliability, and optimised total cost of ownership for customers in the bulker, tanker, and feeder container markets. Both engines employ well-proven Wärtsilä low-speed technology, and incorporate electronically-controlled fuel supply and control.

China Shipping Container Lines Co., Ltd. (CSCL), part of the China Shipping Group (CSG), has chosen Wärtsilä main engines for eight container vessels. The Wärtsilä engines for this order will be built under licence by Doosan Engine, Korea. Wärtsilä, the marine industry's leading ship power system integrator, will supply a package of support services for this order, which was placed in October. The ships are to be built at the Jiangnan Changxing shipyard in Shanghai. "The low fuel consumption across many load parameters was the key technical reason to select the Wärtsilä common rail 2-stroke engine," said Li Xueqiang, deputy GM of CSCL.

Wärtsilä, a ship power system integrator and solution provider, has signed a contract to design and supervise the construction of a modern oceanographic research vessel for the marine wing of the Geological Survey of India (GSI). The order was received in October. In addition to design and supervising the construction process, Wärtsilä will be involved in selecting the onboard scientific instruments, and in arranging training for GSI scientists to ensure that the vessel's capabilities are fully utilized. Wärtsilä know-how and the company's global presence guarantee that the new vessel's scientific team will have the best possible support. Wärtsilä, ship power system integrator, has signed a ship design contract with Pipavav Shipyard of India. The contract calls for a total of 12 Offshore Supply Vessels (OSVs) to be designed by Wärtsilä and built by Pipavav, for delivery to ONGC - Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd, which is the largest oil and gas producer in India. Wärtsilä, ship power system integrator, and IHI Marine United Inc. (IHIMU) of Japan, have concluded a co-operation agreement. Under the agreement, Contra-Rotating Propeller (CRP) systems developed by IHIMU will be incorporated into Wärtsilä's propulsion solutions used on board diesel-electric driven ships. The co-operation agreement mainly covers the European market, where the environmental demands on shipping operations are becoming increasingly stringent. The IHIMU CRP systems have been installed over a period of more than 20 years onboard VLCC and bulk carrier vessels.

Wärtsilä, ship power system integrator for the marine industry, has received a ship design order from the Norwegian shipping company Sartor Shipping AS. The order is for two Vik-Sandvik 465 FSV design vessels that will be built at the Wison Heavy Industry shipyard in China. Wärtsilä scope of supply also includes two main engines, gear boxes and propellers. Sartor Shipping has options for further newbuildings at the yard.
