Damen: First SIGMA PKR frigate for Indonesian Navy

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding has handed over the first SIGMA 10514 PerusakKawalRudal(PKR) frigate to the Indonesian Ministry of Defence, on schedule and on budget. The ceremony took place at the PT PAL shipyard in Surabaya where the vessel was assembled. The Indonesian Ministry of Defence awarded the contract to Damen as main contractor for the construction of the first SIGMA 10514 PKR in December 2012. On receiving the ship, named the RadenEddyMartadinata after one of the founders of the Indonesian Navy, the Ministry handed it on to the Navy. The 105-metre, 2365 tonne PKR frigates are designed to undertake a wide range of missions in and around the waters of Indonesia, an archipelago nation made up of over 18,000 islands.

Indonesian Navy Frigate Completes Sea Trials

The first of two SIGMA 10514 PKR naval frigates for the Indonesian Navy has successfully completed its sea trials as of September 7, marking a milestone on a project for which the first steel was cut in January 2014. Indonesian Shipyard Launches Frigate

The first of two SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) guided-missile frigates under construction for the Indonesian Navy  (TNI AL) has been launched by PT PAL’s Surabaya Shipyard. The SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal, built in collaboration with Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS), is nearly 345 feet long and displaces 2,365 tons. It is of a modular design - four built in PT PAL's shipyards and two built by DSNS in the Netherlands. The ship will be operated by the Indonesian Navy for anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare, and anti-submarine warfare. They are also suitable for maritime security, search-and-rescue, patrol, and humanitarian support missions. The vessel has a speed of 28 knots and can sail up to 5,000 nautical miles at a speed of 14 knots.

Frigate Launched for Indonesian Navy

PT Pal’s Surabaya Shipyard has launched the first of two SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) guided-missile frigates designated for the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL). PT Pal built these ships in collaboration with Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS). The launch ceremony was attended by guests of honor Indonesian Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Rycudu along with Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs, Rizal Ramli; ambassadors from neighboring countries; the Governor of East Java, Soekarwo and Chief of the Navy Admiral Ade Supandi.

Damen Lays Keel for Indonesian Naval Frigate

In accordance with the agreed planning in the contract for the construction of a Damen SIGMA Frigate for the Indonesian Navy, the keel laying ceremony has taken place on April 16, 2014 at the PT PAL (Persero) Shipyard in Surabaya, Indonesia. DSNS Cuts Steel for Indonesian Navy Frigate

In June 2012, the Ministry of Defense of Indonesia and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) signed the contract for the first SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) Frigate. In accordance with the agreed planning for the construction of this frigate, the Steel Cutting Ceremony took place simultaneously on 15 January 2014 at PT PAL (Persero) Shipyard in Surabaya (Indonesia) and DSNS in Vlissingen (the Netherlands). DSNS will build two modules and subsequently ship them to the yard in Surabaya.
