Seafarers' Unions Hold International Cruise Seminar in India

NUSI alongwith Norwegian Seafarers Union (NSU), FIT-CISL and International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) together organized the Fifth International Cruise Seminar in India. This time the seminar was organized in Bangalore from January 19th -23rd, 2016. Around 75 seafarers from various cruise lines such as NCL, RCCL, Silverseas, P&O, Louis Cruise Lines and others participated in the seminar. The participants held all types of positions onboard, varying from Deck & Engine, HR and both higher and lower ranking positions in the Hotel/Catering Departments. The goal was to educate seafarers about Basic Trade Union awareness, their rights while working at sea, Harassment & Bullying, health and HIV-Aids. their ship and educate their fellow crew members.

Marine Rebound Strengthens RINA Results

International engineering, testing, certification and classification group RINA has reported improved results for 2013. Its performance was strengthened by an upturn in marine activities and a drive to improve efficiency and drive down costs. RINA turnover for 2013 increased 4% to €294 million, while EBITDA was up 6% to €37.2 million. Ugo Salerno, RINA Chairman and CEO said, “Returning confidence in the global marine markets and a new management team which took on their responsibilities with enthusiasm at all levels meant the group exceeded expectations in 2013.

Solar Solve Attracts Cruise Ship Orders

Royal Caribbean Cruises Navigator of the Seas

Solar Solve Marine has received a number of recent orders for its class approved roller screens to be installed at the navigation bridge windows on cruise ships. One significant contract was for Royal Caribbean Cruises Navigator of the Seas – a Voyager Class Cruise Ship. Her keel was laid at Aker Yards, Finland in 2000 and the ship was launched in 2002. She is 138,279 GT and can carry 3,114 passengers plus additional crew, with a length of 1,020 feet and beam of 157.5 feet she is still one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

Burger Yacht Sales Reports Brisk Activity

Burger Yacht Sales reports reports brisk activity this past summer thanks to their expanding market and extensive experience in both new construction and brokerage sales. Recent Brokerage sales include WIMIL, a 90 ft. Burger launched in 2002, Windscape, a 91 ft. Burger launched in 1994, Malahne, a 1937 177 ft. Camper & Nicholson, Lady Sarah, a 1998, 114 ft. Hatteras, and AB-7, a 1976, 105 ft. Poole Chaffee. In addition Burger has sold two of their  64 ft. Sparkman & Stephens designed hulls, the 1965 La Maison Blanche, and the 1968 Victoria. Burger also announces new brokerage listings including the 70 ft. Hatteras Sportdeck, Carry On, an 85 Broward Lady Monroe, and the 107-ft. Burger Silver Seas originally launched in 1998. Just listed is the spectacular 2004, 106 ft.
