Lhyfe Launches First Marketplace for Green Hydrogen

Fred. Olsen to Install TWB II Turbines

Offshore wind farm vessels provider Fred. Olsen Windcarrier announced that its jack-up vessel Blue Tern has been contracted to finish installing the remaining 11 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines on the Trianel Windpark Borkum II (TWB II).“We are looking forward to working with our new client and to get the chance to support the finalization of the Trianel wind farm with our jack-up vessel Blue Tern. Wilson Sons Vessel Converted in Brazil

A platform supply vessel (PSV) owned and operated by Wilson Sons UltraTug Offshore has been converted to a shallow dive support vessel (SDSV) for a Petrobras job offshore Brazil.The vessel, Fulmar, needed an upgrade from DP1 to DP2 Class notation, and the work was completed in April by Wilson Sons Estaleiros in partnership with Damen at the Wilson Sons shipyards in Guarujá.Damen said it carried out quick scan and later a feasibility study for the project before Wilson Sons had been awarded the contract.Daniel Pereira, Maintenance Manager said, “The project was not without its challenges.

Davie Delivers LNG-powered Ferry

Canadian operator Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ) has taken delivery of MV Armand-Imbeau II, a new environmentally friendly, 92-meter-long ferry built by Chantier Davie Canada.The new vessel will operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel, enabling STQ - Québec Province ferries operator - to minimize the environmental impact of its operations. The decision is also in line with the Québec’s Maritime Strategy, which seeks to protect the integrity of the province’s river and marine ecosystem.Wärtsilä

Eastern Delivers Fourth Towboat to IWL River

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. said it has delivered the last of four newly built inland river towboats to IWL River, Inc., one of the builder’s newest clients. The four new towboats – Impala Soledad, Impala Salgar, Impala Mompox and Impala Cantagallo – will service the inland waterways of Latin America for Impala Terminals. Impala owns and operates a network of terminals that facilitate global trade flows, specializing in warehousing, multi-modal logistics and related port services for essential commodities worldwide. First Damen Tug for Bugsier

Bugsier, the German towage and maritime service provider, has boosted its already extensive fleet with the addition of a Damen ASD 2411 tug. The tug represents the first purchase of a Damen vessel for Bugsier. Bugsier holds an established position in the German maritime sector: the company is celebrating its 150-year anniversary this year. This operational knowledge brought mutual benefits to the vessel construction process. “Damen is experienced in building tugs, and we are very experienced in operating them,” comments Bugsier Business Development Manager Sven Schrӧder. The Bugsier 22 was built at Damen Shipyards Sharjah (DSSh) in the United Arab Emirates.

Proposed Changes to Long Island Sound Dredged Material Sites

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to amend its 2005 rule that designated the Central and Western Long Island Sound Dredged Material Disposal Sites. The proposed amendments will help meet the goal of reducing or eliminating dredged material disposal in open waters of the Sound. These amendments are available for public review and comment through March 25, 2016, and the EPA will also hold two public hearings on the proposed amendments in early March. According to the EPA

Signet Continues US Expansion

Signet continues Gulf of Mexico expansion and opens U.S. Signet Maritime Corporation informs it has completed Phase II of a $250 million capital expansion program with the acquisition and integration of the Harvey Gulf OTV fleet. The corporate strategy was to design and own vessels for multidisciplinary work, and diversify with the addition of the powerful offshore vessels, enabling Signet to broaden its services into new market segments, the company explained. Continuing this U.S. expansion, Signet has been awarded multi-vessel, long term charters by Trailer Bridge, Inc., an international freight service company, to perform weekly sailings from Jacksonville, Florida to San Juan, Puerto Rico and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

Andrews to Lead CWind’s O&M Division

Lee Andrews has been appointed as CWind’s new global head of operations for maintenance and asset management (O&M) services. Andrews joins CWind from Siemens Energy where he started his career as an apprentice technician 25 years ago and progressed through increasingly senior roles culminating in the role of Head of Installation Technicians and Site Management Group Siemens UK, in the wind energy division which he held for the last four years. In this role he led the development of a UK infrastructure to support the recruitment and building of a high performing team of technicians, operational managers and back office staff, servicing all of Siemens UK offshore wind construction projects.

ABB to Deliver Power Solutions to Ocean Rig’s drillships

ABB, a global leader in power and automation technology, has secured an order to deliver total power solutions to Ocean Rig’s two seventh generation new integrated design mobile offshore drilling units (MODU) that is being built by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) at Goeje shipyard in Korea. The contract includes an option to extend the delivery to two additional vessels. Kongsberg Maritime Engineering (KME) has signed a contract with Gina Krog LLC, a subsidiary of Teekay Shipping AS, for supply of an Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) and Power package to the Gina Krog FSO (Floating Storage and Offloading) unit, to be delivered to the Statoil operated Gina Krog field on the Norwegian continental shelf, North Sea. Teekay recently entered an agreement with Statoil to provide the FSO for the Gina Krog field. Another Milestone for LNG Powered Ships in the U.S.

The U.S. continues to lead the push towards "LNG as Fuel" in the commercial shipping sector, as these 'historic' announcements are now becoming more routine. Totem Ocean Trailer Express (Totem Ocean) announced that Wärtsilä will supply main engines, generators and integrated LNG storage and fuel gas handling systems (LNGPac(TM)) for the largest LNG conversions ever undertaken in North America. China Shipyard Contracts For Wärtsilä DP3 Rig Package

Wärtsilä to provide integrated power, propulsion and positioning system for DP3 offshore accommodation rig for Singapore's Axis Offshore. The contract with Cosco (Qidong) Offshore is for the vessel to be equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system, and will feature an integrated Wärtsilä solution that includes the main power generation system, the propulsion system, the electric and automation system and the automation safety system. Wärtsilä is responsible for engineering, delivery and commissioning of the integrated solution and will also support the yard on-site during the installation phase. The vessel is expected to enter into service in February 2015 for worldwide operations. Wärtsilä will begin deliveries of its equipment in May 2013.

Wärtsilä Power Selected for Two Canadian LNG Ferries

Wärtsilä, a marine industry solutions and services provider, will supply an integrated solution for two dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) Ro-Pax passenger ferries being built on behalf of Canadian ferry services provider Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ). The contract was issued in August by Chantier Davie Canada (Davie), Canada's largest shipyard, the builder of the two vessels. Retrofit Solutions for Exhaust Gas and Water Cleaning

Upcoming environmental regulations will affect existing vessels, and as a consequence there is a growing demand for exhaust gas cleaning and ballast water treatment systems. Retrofitting both scrubbers and ballast water management systems is – or will soon be – required for many ships to comply with regulations. There are retrofit solutions available across all ship types, from cruise vessels to merchant and offshore ships. Space requirement is usually the most critical factor when planning and executing a retrofit project but Wärtsilä has found solutions to the challenge.

Wärtsilä Awarded TT-Line Exhaust Gas Cleaning Retrofit

Wärtsilä say they have signed a repeat integrated solution order with the COSCO (Qidong) Offshore Co.Ltd shipyard covering another DP3 Dynamically Positioned offshore accommodation rig being built for Singapore based Axis Offshore.
