Young Named VP Production Ops at Austal USA

Austal USA promoted Chris Young to Vice President of Production Operations. Young, formerly Senior Director of Production, is a 26-year veteran of Austal with 19 of those years spent at Austal USA’s new construction manufacturing facilities in Mobile. Young’s tenure with Austal began immediately following school in Perth, Australia, when he joined the company as a structural engineering apprentice. Young was soon asked to travel to the US to join the Austal USA team as it stood up operations in Mobile, Ala.

Green Light for Papua LNG JV

Canadian oil and gas company High Arctic Energy Services said that  the Government of Papua New Guinea (PNG) has validated the Papua LNG Gas Agreement.According to a statement, the announced validation by the Petroleum Minister includes new good faith concessions offered by the operator for the Papua LNG joint venture. Linde Group Bags Chinese LNG Contract

The technology company The Linde Group has been awarded a contract from Chinese chemical and energy company Inner Mongolia Huineng Coal Chemical Co Ltd to supply a mid-scale LNG plant near Beinichuan in Inner Mongolia."This will be Linde’s seventh and largest LNG plant to date in China and is in response to growing demand from customers in China," said a release from the company.Linde's Engineering Division will be responsible for engineering, procurement and site services for the LNG plant with a nameplate capacity of 750,000 tons of liquefied natural gas per annum.The plant’s technology is based on Linde’s proprietary LIMUM process…

Deltamarin, Elomatic to Design Second Global Class Cruise Ship

Deltamarin and Elomatic, both from Turku Finland, have signed a significant agreement with MV WERFTEN Wismar GmbH for the basic and detail design of a second Global class cruise ship. The value of the contract is approximately €16.5M ($18.7 million) for Deltamarin and €17M ($19.3 million) for Elomatic. The vessel will be built in parallel in Wismar and Rostock, Germany. The contract was signed on 10.26.2018 and design work has already commenced.The vessel is the second in the series of Global class vessels.

Royal IHC Buys Into Rotterdam Offshore Group

Royal IHC has announced its acquisition of 50% of the share capital of Rotterdam Offshore Group (ROG). The agreement will enable IHC to strengthen its ship repair and conversion capabilities with the addition of a dedicated facility in Rotterdam, which has uninterrupted access to open sea. Rotterdam Offshore Group has a strong reputation in the worldwide maritime and offshore industry for dockside and on-site services. Located in Rotterdam, ROG has lay-by facilities for vessels up to 300m, heavy-lift crane capacity, a large yard area and a fully equipped workshop. The company has repeatedly facilitated conversion, ship repair and (de)mobilisation projects for some of the largest and most significant players in the offshore, dredging and maritime industries.

mltech Bags Caspian Contract

mltech, specialist in pipework set-up and measurement software development, has increased its global presence after securing its first contract in Baku, Azerbaijan. The one year contract, which has scope for extension, was awarded by Metal Qaynaq Sinaq (MQS) which operates throughout Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan. The company provides services including process piping fabrication, heavy and light structural steel fabrication, mechanical site services and civil construction to some of the oil and gas industry’s biggest operators and tier one contractors. The project will see mltech train MQS personnel to use its proprietary automet™ software, licensed to MQS, to perform pipe spool fabrication surveys and on-site pipework and steelwork surveys.

Fincantieri, Huarun Dadong Dockyard Tie-up framework Finalized

Fincantieri and Huarun Dadong Dockyard (HRDD) signed an exclusive cooperation agreement last March. Development of this cooperation framework continued and the parties have now signed a comprehensive agreement which further details and completes the terms of their collaboration. The agreement now includes the joint technical management of ship repair, dry-docking and conversion work on cruise liners and paves the way for the first project. Fincantieri is constantly focused on the development of the markets and the agreement is therefore framed in the strategy of emerging markets penetration. Today, already operate regularly in China at least 13 cruise ships of western companies that need on-site services that the partnership is able to offer, and this number is intended to grow rapidly.

New 'Mega Passenger Ship' for Star Cruises

Elomatic Ltd and Deltamarin Ltd have signed a tri-party engineering contract with shipbuilder MV Werften for the design of Star Cruises’ new Global Class “mega passenger ship,” which, once completed, will be the largest passenger vessel ever built in Germany. The new cruise liner will measure over 340 meters long, 45 meters wide and have a gross register tonnage of 200,001. The general arrangement plans for the Global Class cruise ships were completed with Foreship Oy (Foreship) in June following Genting Hong Kong’s purchase of the MV Werften shipyards in April.

Corpro Secures ENI Contract in Norway

Corpro Systems Ltd., a member of international oilfield services organisation Reservoir Group, has been awarded a significant coring contract in Eni, the largest Italian energy company. The contract is the third commercial project to be carried out by Corpro since it opened its Scandinavian facility in late 2010 and will include coring and various on-site services related to coring, for exploration wells offshore Norway and activity in upcoming production wells in the Barents Sea. Work will also commence on the already spudded Marulk exploration well. The value of the contract will depend upon the volume of core extracted during the forthcoming jobs.

Shell selects Endress+Hauser

Endress+Hauser will supply Shell with process measurement instruments, engineering and associated services. Both companies signed an Enterprise Framework Agreement (EFA) with an initial term of five years. flow, level, pressure and temperature measurements and for liquid analysis. The Swiss-based process measurement engineering specialist will be the primary supplier for these instrument types. Endress+Hauser will also provide to Shell project management, engineering, maintenance, repairs and site services in Shell facilities around the globe. Endress+Hauser and Shell have enjoyed a close business relationship for many years. Both companies have cooperated in a number of major projects, including the Pearl GTL project, the world’s largest gas-to-liquid plant in Qatar.

Mass. Maritime Academy, $1.5m for Stadium

The Massachusetts Maritime Academy has received a pledge from Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Inc. of Norwell, Mass. in the amount of $1.5m for naming rights to its contiguous athletic stadium and gymnasium complex. The acceptance of the pledge, which was presented by Clean Harbors Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alan S. McKim, was approved unanimously earlier this morning by the school's Board of Trustees and announced by Admiral Richard G. Gurnon, President of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The Clean Harbors Athletic Center will be comprised of the athletic stadium, which is the current home of Commander Edward A. Ellis Field, as well as all athletic and recreation facilities currently housed in Alumni Gymnasium.
