MAN Diesel & Turbo recently signed a contract with Stena Line to provide its online service to two vessels. China has taken a major step towards establishing a speedy new "Silk Road" to Europe by signing up to a U.N. trucking treaty. Fifteen years after joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), China is hoping a revival of its ancient trading corridor to the west will help boost its slowing economy. Antwerp based crude oil tanker company Euronav has signed a deal with Satcom Global for its Aura Ku-Band VSAT service. With Satcom Global Aura on-board, Euronav’s fleet will benefit from a global service that provides guaranteed bandwidth via a generous Committed Information Rate (CIR). Safety Alert: Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone
This safety alert reminds vessel owners, operators, charterers, merchant mariners, passengers, and all others throughout the maritime domain of safety concerns associated with Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone. This alert includes phones recently replaced by manufacturer. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), as of last month there have been at least 92 reports of batteries overheating, including 26 reports of customer burns and 55 reports of property damage. The primary concern is the phone's Lithium-ion battery which stores significant energy. During normal use and charging, devices have overheated and ruptured.

Classification society ClassNK has released the Arrival Checklist for PSC, the preparatory checklist mobile app for PSC inspections. Arrival Checklist for PSC digitalizes the updated contents of ClassNK’s Port State Inspections Pocket Checklist and is now available for smartphones and tablets. Arrival Checklist for PSC allows users to access the checklist with greater ease and efficiency during preparatory checks of onboard equipment and others prior to arrival into port. The app was developed as a ship management solution to help minimize the risk of PSC detentions and deficiencies. South Korea's April Exports Fall Unexpectedly
South Korean exports declined in April for the first time in 18 months, unable to keep up with 2017’s brisk pace as global demand softened, adding to worries about the country’s trade outlook amid the risk of a deepening U.S-China trade conflict.Exports fell 1.5 percent to $50.1 billion from a year earlier, marking the first decline since October 2016 when shipments fell 3.2 percent, government data showed on Tuesday.
