Seaspan LNG Bunkering Vessel Launched

Seaspan Energy announced the launch of Seaspan Garibaldi, the first of three 7,600m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessels being built by CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE) in China.The newbuild is named after Mount Garibaldi, or “Nch’ḵay̓” as the Squamish Nation has known it for thousands of years. Wärtsilä’s Inks Deal for Supplies on Four new LPG Ships

Wärtsilä will supply the cargo handling and fuel supply systems for four new 40,000 m3 gas carrier vessels. The ships are being built at the CIMC SinoPacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in China for Norwegian shipowner Avance Gas. The Wärtsilä LPG Fuel Supply System (LFSS) is a system that enables the use of LPG as fuel. This increases operational efficiency and supports environmental sustainability.These will be the first medium sized LPG carrier vessels built at the SOE yard.

LNG Bunker Carrier Paolina Cosulich Launched

Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers (S) Pte Ltd. christened and launched its second Small Scale LNG carrier - the Paolina Cosulich - at the CIMC SOE shipyard in China.The event  was attended by Diana Mok - Managing Director at Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers (S) Pte Ltd, acting as the godmother of the vessel. Paolina Cosulich will sail under the Italian flag with Captain Vincenzo Scotto at the helm. Alice Cosulich, the first of two Small Scale & Bunker Vessels for Fratelli Cosulich Group was recently christened and luanced at the CIMC SOE shipyard in China.Giulia Cosulich, ESG Corporate Director at Fratelli Cosulich Group, acted as the godmother of the vessel.Alice Cosulich and will sail under the Italian flag with Captain Vincenzo Scotto at the helm.The vessel, which has a 5,300 DWT and can carry 8,200 m3 of LNG and 500 m3 of MGO, will be fitted with Wartsila’s Dual Fuel technology.

Høglund to Deliver Automation Systems for Seaspan LNG Bunkering Vessels

Høglund Marine Solutions announced it will deliver integrated automation systems (IAS) for three newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessels being constructed at at CIMC SOE shipyard for Canadian owner Seaspan ULC.The IAS will seamlessly connect the cargo handling, control and electrical propulsion systems on each of the 7600m3 ships slated to operate along the west coast of North America.A central, and standard feature of all Høglund automation systems, is Høglund Playback.

Avenir LNG announced it has entered into a time charter party (TCP) with Shell for the newbuild 20,000-cubic-meter capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering supply vessel Avenir Achievement.Avenir LNG, a joint venture between Stolt-Nielsen, Hoegh LNG and Golar LNG, said the time charter is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2023 and will run for a period of three years with an option to extend up to five years.Avenir Achievement is scheduled to be delivered from Chinese builder Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co. Ltd (CIMC SOE) in the second quarter of 2022.

Fratelli Cosulich Orders LNG Bunkering Vessel in China

Italian firm Fratelli Cosulich Group has ordered a liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel. The ship, which will be built in China, at the CIMC SOE shipyard, with its approximately 5,300 tons of DWT will be able to transport over 8,000 m3 of LNG and 500 m3 of MGO for bunkering. PIL Fined $3 Million Over Felony Dumping Violations

Singapore-based shipping company Pacific International Lines (PIL) will pay $3 million in fines after pleading guilty to felony dumping violations in Hagatna, Guam.The vessel operating company and two engineers were sentenced for illegally discharging oil and for maintaining false and incomplete records relating to the discharges of oily bilge water from the containership Kota Harum in 2019. PIL, chief engineer Maung Maung Soe, and second engineer Peng Luo Hai admitted that oily bilge water was illegally dumped from the Kota Harum directly into the ocean and into Apra Harbor, Guam without being properly processed through required pollution prevention equipment.

Alabama Shipyard to Overhaul USNS Supply

Alabama Shipyard has been awarded a $23,752,381, firm-fixed-price contract for a 96-calendar day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and dry docking of the USNS Supply (T-AOE 6).Work will be performed in Mobile, Ala., and is expected to be complete by November 2020. This contract includes one base period and 10 options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $26,361,776. The contract was competitively procured with proposals solicited via the Government Point of Entry website, and Alabama Shipyard was the soe bidder. The U.S.

MAN Energy Solutions won a contract to supply individual MAN B&W ME-LGIP (Liquid Gas Injection Propane) dual-fuel engines to three 5,000-cubiic-meter-capacity liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tankers currently under construction by CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC-SOE) in Shanghai for German shipping company Hartmann Gas Carrier.Each newbuilding will receive a propulsion package featuring one 5S35ME-LGIP engine with an Alpha controllable pitch propeller, power take-off (PTO) and propulsion control system (PCS).

Avenir Cancels Newbuild Order with Keppel

SOE Shipyard Bags Avenir LNG Newbuild Order

Bermuda registered Avenir LNG Limited has signed contracts with Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) for the construction of two 7,500 cbm LNG carriers, at its Nantong, China shipyard, with options to build two more.Delivery of the two LNGC new buildings is scheduled for May and August 2021. The ships are designed to include ice class 1B, full bunker functionality, double hull and dual fuel electric twin azimuth propulsion. The order for the 7,500 cbm LNG ships replaces the previous option to build two additional ships with Keppel Singmarine which was cancelled by mutual agreement. Evergas Acquires 4th multigas LNG vessel

Evergas’ latest addition to its fleet, the 4 th ‘dragon class’ 27.500 cbm multigas LNG carrier in a series of eight was successfully named today the 28th of January, at a ceremony at the Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in Qidong, China. The state-of-the-art carrier was named JS INEOS INSPIRATION. The vessel bear a distinct dragon symbolizing its Chinese and Western heritage. Nimitz Strike Group Successfully Completes COMPTUEX

The USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 11 successfully completed its final pre-deployment assessment, Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX), April 21, marking the completion of its condensed Inter-Deployment Training Cycle (IDTC) for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX is an exercise that tests a strike group's ability to work and operate as one cohesive unit in a simulated real-world-scenario based training environment. Nimitz was joined by CSG 11, to include Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 9 and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11, to prove their operational capabilities prior to deploying. Vice Adm. Nora Tyson, commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, said COMPTUEX is designed to put a strike group through the highest level of training that we can possible give.

CIMC Shelves Sinopacific Acquisition

CIMC Enric, an affiliate company of China International Marine Containers (CIMC), has announced that it has terminated the acquisitions of Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE), the offshore unit of Sinopacific Shipbuilding. CIMC Enric said the Board decided not to proceed with the proposed acquisition of the entire equity interest of SinoPacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. as certain conditions precedent have not been fulfilled or waived. Last year, CIMC  has struck a deal with Evergreen Holding and its subsidiaries to acquire Nantong SOE for at least CNY700 million (USD109 million) in cash and shares. In the meantime, the Board is considering various alternatives in protecting the rights and values of the Group's interests in the target company…

First ME-GIE Ethane Engine Unveiled at Mitsui

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) has completed the world’s first ME-GIE ethane-operated two-stroke diesel engine. The engines will be for propulsion of three ethylene carriers, which will also carry ethane as cargo. The Mitsui-MAN B&W 7G50ME-C9.5-GIE is the first engine in a series of three for installation in three LEG (liquefied ethylene gas) carriers of 36,000 m3 for Hartmann Schiffahrt of Germany and Ocean Yield of Norway, being built at Sinopacific Offshore Engineering (SOE) in China. MAN Diesel & Turbo reports that ethane was chosen as fuel, in preference to HFO, due to its more competitive pricing as well as the significantly shorter bunkering time it entails.

Two Sinopacific-built LEG Carriers Named

Chinese shipbuilder CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co. Ltd. (CIMC SOE) has completed the first two vessels in a series of five liquid ethylene gas (LEG) carrier newbuilds for a Chinese ship owner. The series includes two 17,000- and three 22,000-cubic-meter capacity LEG carriers, with the smaller two vessels named and one delivered during a ceremony on March 28. The delivery marks a significant occasion for the shipyard, which was reorganized in August 2017 after filing for bankruptcy in 2016.
