Taiwan Ship Design, Shipbuilding Bolstered by High Tien Offshore Newbuild Plan

High Tien Offshore, a Taiwanese company that specializes in offshore wind marine engineering services, announced its collaboration with Ship and Ocean Industries R&D Center (SOIC) and Jong Shyn Shipbuilding (JSS) to build offshore vessels.“In order to support government’s localization development policy and developers’ bidding for the offshore wind farms of zonal development in Round 3, High Tien Offshore plans to build Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV) and Service Operation Vessel (SOV), with the mission of creating Taiwan values and establishing autonomous capability of marine vessels.

Asia's First Hybrid Electric Ferry Heralds Cleaner Sea Travel

The Taiwanese harbor city of Kaohsiung has launched a new hybrid electric ferry, which aims to curb greenhouse and diesel emissions for marine passenger transport across the region. Kaohsiung recently re-launched the Cijian Island passenger ferry, retrofitted with a Visedo electric propulsion system, replacing the original diesel engine. It heralds Asia’s first hybrid electric ferry and, if successful, the Kaohsiung City Government plans to retrofit the rest of its diesel fleet to help reduce pollution levels around Taiwan’s largest harbor.

SOIC selects Nupas-Cadmatic for CAD/CAM

SOIC has selected Nupas-Cadmatic for 3D CAD/CAM to create increasingly intricate designs of ships and vessels. After doing research about possible software suppliers, SOIC invited the selected companies for demonstrations. Nupas-Cadmatic performed the best and met the demands of SOIC. Both companies decided to start with a pilot project. SOIC placed an order with Nupas-Cadmatic after the three month trial was successfully completed. Ship and Ocean Industries R&D Center, also known as SOIC, was established in 1976 under the sponsorship of the Ministries of Economic Affairs, National Defense, Communications, and Education and with donation from several large contractors.
