EST-Floattech Receives ā‚¬4 Million Investment

Developer of maritime battery systems EST-Floattech has received an investment of 4 million euros from Energy Transition Fund Rotterdam and existing shareholders Rotterdam Port Fund, PDENH, Ponooc, and Yard Energy.Energy Transition Fund Rotterdam is investing 3 million euros, the fund's first investment in maritime battery systems. The existing shareholders are jointly investing 1 million euros.The announcement was made by Chantal Zeegers, the Alderman for Climate, Building, and Housing in Rotterdam.

Damen Shipyards to Build Nine Ferries for Aqualiner-Swets

Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards has signed a contract to build nine passenger vessels for Dutch ferry joint venture Aqualiner-Swets.The nine vessels will be used to provide the public transportation service between Rotterdam and the Drecht cities on behalf of the Province of South Holland and the region from 2022.Of the nine vessels, six are hybrid and carbon fiber Waterbuses which will serve the fast ferry Intercity routes primarily between Sliedrecht, Dordrecht, Rotterdam and the World Heritage site Kinderdijk.

Rotterdam Adopts Revised Port Vision

The city council of Rotterdam has adopted the revised Port Vision. The creation of economic and societal value and realizing sustainable growth form the core of the revised Port Vision.The revised Port Vision was approved by the Port of Rotterdam Authorityā€™s Supervisory Board earlier this year. Slufterdam Doubles Wind Power

Eneco and Vattenfall have completed repowering of the Slufterdam wind farm in the Netherlands, boosting output to 50MW from around 25MW.The 17 existing wind turbines in the farm, which has been supplying renewable energy since 2002, have been replaced by 14 wind turbines that are much more efficient. As a result, the power has nearly doubled from 25.5 MW to 50.4 MW. The 14 wind turbines generate 180 GWh of electricity every year, enough to cover the annual consumption of around 60,000 households.The energy companies started preparations to replace the wind turbines in mid-2017. Green Award Partners with NPRC Inland Shipping Cooperative

The Rotterdam-based inland shipping cooperative NPRC is the first logistics service provider in the inland shipping sector to be appointed as ā€˜incentive providerā€™ by the Green Award Foundation. In practice, NPRC can be expected to pay a share of the audit costs associated with certification for its members, as well as actively thinking along about the requirements set for the Green Award certification of inland shipping companies. According to the Member of the Provincial Executive of South Holland Rik Janssen, this is a ground-breaking collaboration. The unique partnership was announced during the meeting ā€˜Goederenvervoer over Water in een Stroomversnellingā€™ (ā€˜Freight Transport by Water picks up Paceā€™) organised by the Province of South Holland on Wednesday, 20 June.

DNV GL Completes Due Diligence of Dutch Windpark Spui

DNV GL, the worldā€™s largest resource of independent energy experts and certification body, has successfully completed comprehensive due diligence of the Dutch Windpark Spui, for a group of lenders who are providing the debt financing for the project. The power generated at Windpark Spui, which will supply renewable electricity to more than 24,000 households, will be sold to Eneco Group, a Dutch sustainable energy company, under a 16-year power purchase agreement. Eurus Energy, a leading Japanese renewable energy company, acquired the project from YARD, a Dutch-based developer of wind energy projects, and its co-developer prior to financial close. ā€œWeā€™d like to congratulate all the parties involved on this momentous achievement.

Netherlands to Ban Degassing on Inland Navigation Vessels

"The Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Van Nieuwenhuizen wants the degasification ban to be introduced in the Netherlands by mid-2020," said the statement. A taskforce will be set up in order to ensure in partnership with the business community that the introduction of this national degassing ban runs smoothly. Port of Amsterdam is one of the organisations that will be participating in this process. This marks another step in our liveability programme: a clean and safe port region for local residents and businesses. Apart from Port of Amsterdam the Government, port companies, Shell Nederland and the provinces of North Holland, North Brabant, South Holland, Utrecht, Overijssel, Gelderland, Flevoland and Zeeland are involved in the task force.

Waste-to-Chemistry Project Comes up in Rotterdam Port

A consortium of companies comprising Air Liquide, AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals, Enerkem and the Port of Rotterdam Authority has signed a development agreement for the initial investments in an advanced waste-to-chemistry plant in Rotterdam. The aim is that this will be the first plant of this type in Europe to offer a sustainable alternative for waste incineration, by converting plastic and mixed waste into new raw materials for industry. These investments ā€“ for detailed engineering, the establishment of a special joint-venture and the conclusion of the licensing procedure ā€“ amount to some ā‚¬ 9 million. The consortium is aiming for the projectā€™s final investment decisionā€¦

Harrington Hoists, Inc. is celebrating 150 years in the hoist business. The company was established in 1867 by Edwin Harrington, a machinist and inventor, when he started a machine shop and hoist business in Philadelphia. His company thrived as a result of his innovative ideas and continual improvements to the design and production of hoists. Imtech Receives the 'Royal' Designation

Mr. Jan Franssen, Queen's Commissioner in the Provence of South Holland, presents the special predicate in Rotterdam.

Imtech N.V. (IM-AE, technical services provider in Europe and on the global marine market) announces that Her Royal Highness the Queen of the Netherlands has decided to grant Imtech N.V. the right to use the designation 'Royal'. This special Predicate is awarded today by Mr. Jan Franssen, Queen's Commissioner in the Provence of South Holland, in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam. Royal Imtech is now a fact. Imtech CEO René van der Bruggen: 'Naturally, we are proud on the fact that we are allowed to call ourselves 'Royal Imtech'.

EU Funds Construction of BB Green Vessels

Under the 7th FRAMEWORK PROGRAM, EU is funding BB GREEN, an R&D project aiming at demonstrating feasibility of the first ever Air Supported Vessel (ASV) battery powered, fast commuter ferry. The 3 year project, initiated and coordinated by SES Europe AS (Norway), began with a kick-off meeting in Rotterdam in the end of June. Fast, efficient, zero-emission waterborne passenger transportation is the ultimate goal. The 7-partner team (consisting of SES Europe AS (Norway), SSPA Sweden (Sweden), Lloyds Register (UK). Carbonia AB (Sweden), Diab AS (Norway), Aqualiner (The Netherlands) and Amberjac Projects Ltd (UK)), will develop a low-wake wash and air-supported vessel conceptā€¦

Agreement on funding Rotterdam port expansion

The State, the municipality of Rotterdam and Port of Rotterdam have today concluded an agreement on financing for the construction of Maasvlakte 2, the plan to expand the port of Rotterdam. The construction of Maasvlakte 2 will cost EUR 2.575 billion. According to the agreement, the State will take a 33.3 percent interest in Port of Rotterdam as of 1-1-2006. Port of Rotterdam CEO Willem Scholten: "This a an extremely important agreement. The expansion will give businesses the opportunity to grow in Rotterdam. Maasvlakte 2 will be an excellent location. Right on the sea, and with good hinterland connections. Construction can start in 2006 and the first sites will be available for clients in 2010.
