A new tank concept for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and carbon dioxide (CO2) transportation promises to more than double current vessel cargo capacity, representing a step forward in the development of maritime transport solutions for the expanding carbon capture and storage (CCS) market, which will require maritime transport of liquefied CO2 to scale up rapidly. MacGregor Heavy-lift Electric Cranes Ordered for Nordana MPVs

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won a contract to deliver four 250-metric-ton heavy-lift electric cranes to two 12,000 dwt multipurpose vessels (MPVs) for a Danish operator Nordana. As part of a fleet refurbishment plan, the long-established Danish operator, Nordana, ordered four heavy-lift versions of MacGregor's variable frequency drive (VFD) electric cranes which are scheduled for delivery during 2014 and 2015. "Nordana is recognized as a specialist operator with a fleet of vessels able to carry a wide variety of cargoes," said Svante Lundberg, Sales Manager, MacGregor cargo cranes.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, secured its third identical offshore crane contract for Volstad Maritime AS series of 125m offshore construction vessels being built by Bergen Group Fosen shipyard in Norway. The order is booked in the first quarter 2013 order intake. Cargotec Wins Another Volstad Crane Order

Volstad Maritime returns for repeat offshore crane contract from Cargotec. Following on from an order in April last year, Cargotec has won a contract for two active heave-compensated (AHC) offshore cranes from the privately-owned Norwegian specialist operator, Volstad Maritime. The two cranes, a 250-tonne MacGregor AHC subsea crane and a 15-tonne MacGregor AHC offshore crane, will be fitted to Volstad's new offshore construction vessel (OCV) on order at Bergen Group Fosen shipyard in Norway.
