Johor Port Berhad has signed an agreement with Petronas LNG Ltd. to provide marine services for vessels that receive gassing up and cooling down (GUCD) services at PLL’s Regasification Terminal Pengerang.According to a press release from integrated multi-purpose port facility located at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia, the signing of the Marine Services Agreement by Johor Port Bhd and PPL enables the provisioning of marine services and attractive tariff for vessels that receive Gassing Up and Cooling Down (GUCD) services at PLL’s Regasification Terminal Pengerang (RGTP).The GUCD is a specialised service of bringing the storage tanks on liquefied natural gas carrier (LNG) vessels to a natural environment and cooling it down to cryogenic temperature (minus 160 degrees Celcius).

Teekay Tankers Ltd. reported adjusted net income attributable to its shareholders of $48.5 million, or $0.31 per share, for the quarter ended December 31, 2015, compared to $18.6 million, or $0.21 per share, for the same period in the prior year. The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share. The increase is primarily due to stronger spot tanker rates in the fourth quarter of 2015 compared to the same period in the prior year and an increase in fleet size related to the acquisition of 17 modern, mid-size tankers during 2015 and the expansion of the Company's chartered-in tanker portfolio in 2014 and 2015.

Halliburton has signed an agreement with the SPT Energy Group Inc. affiliate, Petrotech (Xinjiang) Engineering Co., Ltd., to establish a joint venture company focused on hydraulic fracturing and production enhancement services in Xinjiang, China. The new company, Xinjiang HDTD Oilfield Services Co. Ltd., will provide fracture stimulation services, including design and analysis, data acquisition, and pumping and chemical services in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This is Halliburton’s first joint venture for hydraulic fracturing services in China. A ceremony was held on Wednesday at the China World Hotel in Beijing to celebrate the establishment of Xinjiang HDTD Oilfield Services Co., Ltd.

Nautilus Minerals Inc. will begin assembling its third and final Seafloor Production Tool (SPT), the Auxiliary Cutter (AC), this week at Soil Machine Dynamics’ (SMD) facility in Newcastle in Tyne, UK. Nautilus' CEO, Mike Johnston said “we are pleased that the assembly of the AC, the third and final of the three SPTs has now commenced, with the arrival of the chassis at the SMD facility. The next milestone for the SPTs will be the commencement of Factory Acceptance Testing on the already assembled Bulk Cutter (BC). We look forward to reporting on this progress next month”.

Houston based SPT Inc., specialists in ship to ship (STS) transfer (lightering) of crude oil and liquefied natural gas has announced expansion of its STS service for oil majors and traders in the Caribbean. SPT Inc's President Simon Duncan has signed an initial deal with Cayman Island’s Premier Bush to revive crude oil lightering offshore Cayman Brac. This follows new ship to ship transfer capability announced last year in the Bahamas for SPT, building on its permanent ship to ship transfer location in its southern Caribbean base at Aruba. The details of the Cayman arrangements have not yet been finalised, but promise to aid Cayman Brac’s economy with the port benefiting from the additional commerce that visiting ships generate such as replenishment of stores and services.

A Joint Industry Project (JIP), co-funded through MPA’s MINT fund, is aimed to provide recommendations to the Singapore government authorities on enabling LNG bunkering in Singapore, ensuring operational safety, alignment with industry expectations and best practice, and compliance with relevant international rules, regulations and standards. Alaris Companies last month announced it is working with the U.S. Coast Guard to help it decrease energy use and emissions via its fleet energy management program. Maritime Reporter recently visited with Alaris CEO, Bobbi Wolff, and Executive VP of Engineering, Michael Gaffney, to discuss the company, its system and the global trend to minimize maritime’s carbon footprint. The IM Skaugen group reported a pre-tax result of MUSD 20.3 in 2003 including a net gain from sale of assets of MUSD 19.3 - (MUSD 4.8 in 2002). The result on EBITDA basis is MUSD 24.8 in 2003 (MUSD 25.8 in 2002 and MUSD 33.9 in 2001). The Board has decided to recommend to the Annual General Meeting on March 1st 2004 to pay a dividend of NOK 7.- per share (NOK 7.50 in 2002 and 7.00 in 2003). Teekay Shipping Corporation (Teekay) announced that it has entered into two separate agreements to construct a total of six 105,000 deadweight tonne high specification Aframax tanker newbuildings. Four conventional Aframax tankers and two purpose-built lightering ships have been ordered from Hyundai Heavy Industries and Tsuneishi Corporation, respectively. The aggregate cost of these vessels is approximately US$260 million, including construction supervision costs and capitalized interest. I.M. Skaugen ASA announced that Skaugen PetroTrans (SPT), its 50 percent owned joint venture company, has appointed Mr. Per Voie as its President. He succeeds Mr. Trygve Munthe, who was named its President of SPT in 1993. Mr. Per Voie (52) comes to SPT after a 28-year career with the Stolt Nielsen Group where he has held a variety of managerial positions. Most recently as General Manager of the recently commissioned "Stolthaven New Orleans LLC". Skaugen PetroTrans is the leading US lightering company handling more than 1.2 million barrels of crude oil per day employing an average of 11 aframax tankers. The company has completed 11,500 lightering operations handling more than 5 billion barrels over its 22 years of operations. SPT is owned 50% by I.M.

Stolt-Nielsen S.A. appointed Otto H. Fritzner as CEO of Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group (SNTG). Fritzner most recently served as Managing Director, Ship Owning at SNTG. He succeeds James B. The I.M. Skaugen group reported a pre-tax result of minus MUSD 1.5 in 2Q04 (MUSD 0.8 in 1Q04, minus MUSD 3.0 in 4Q03 and MUSD 2 in 2Q03). The result on EBITDA basis is MUSD 3.8 for this period (MUSD 4.4 in 1Q04, MUSD 5.4 in 4Q03 and MUSD 7.5 in 2Q04). The Gas Activities, and mainly Norgas experienced a much weaker EBITDA result in 2Q04 than anticipated. A worldwide shortage of product supply resulted in more idle time for the MNGC fleet and thus a reduced EBITDA contribution. The general picture is still considered optimistic for the world economy in late 2004 and beyond and hence also for Norgas. SPT - The Shuttle Tanker Activities reported a satisfactory overall performance and achieved acceptable results after a challenging period in the beginning of the year.

The picturesque town of Bayou La Batre, Ala. has long been known for its production of shrimp trawlers. Normally, about 150 of these 90-105 ft. vessels come out of 8-10 yards set up specifically to produce these boats. Increasingly, however, large deepwater offshore service vessels are taking their place along side of the trawlers as the Bayou La Batre boat builders join with their Louisiana cousins in producing vessels for the oil patch. Interestingly, it is many of the same builders who construct dozens of trawlers a year that are in the forefront of OSV production. One of the prime examples is Master Boat Builders, Coden, Ala., about three miles south of Bayou La Batre.
