RAscal 1600 Mooring Launch EIMEO
The Robert Allan designed RAscal 1600 mooring launch EIMEO has been completed by Cheoy Lee Shipyards in Hong Kong and is on its way to the east coast of Australia on a heavy lift ship. The launch was built for Half-Tide Marine of Mackay in Queensland, Australia who will employ it at the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, south of Mackay. The terminal, one of the largest coal terminals the world, has a ship loading facility some three kilometres off the east coast suitable for up to four 200,000 dwt bulk carriers. Although protected by the Great Barrier Reef, the fetch to the reef is enough that a considerable chop can develop which is not a problem for the bulk carriers but presents an operating challenge for a small line boat trying to pick up and deliver heavy ship’s hawsers.
New Mooring System for Commercial Vessels
Eliminating the slack line required for conventional tie-ups, PSI Marine's TideSlide Mooring System reduces inertial loading usually generated by a moored vessel. TideSlide's strength and safety are ideal for commercial docks where cargo or passengers are loaded. Maintaining the vessel's boarding proximity allows safer movement of freight and passengers. TideSlide's vertical movement absorbs any built-up energy, enabling a vessel to be safely and securely held even in the presence of wind, waves and tides.
Continuous Duty DC Blower Clears Air
Even small vessels can have big exhaust issues in engine rooms and other enclosed spaces. To prevent dangerous fumes from accumulating, Delta "T" Systems has introduced its compact but powerful new 3-inch DC Blower. The 12-volt blower provides extreme air volumes at very high static pressures. This model is continuous duty, rated for long-term reliability. Ideal for gasoline engine applications, it is fully ignition protected. The air mover features a flange mount exhaust port to simplify installation. Its marine-grade, ABS plastic housing resists corrosion. The stainless steel shaft and bronze bearings provide smooth, quiet operation. It measures seven inches wide by six inches high.
WESMAR to Introduce New Fin for Yachts
WESMAR (Western Marine Electronics) will introduce a 50-square-foot mega fin at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show on October 27-31 in Florida. Designed for luxury yachts, charter and super yachts, these new fins, coupled with WESMAR’s triple axis digital DSP4800 control electronics, are designed to reduce up to 90% of vessel roll. They are rugged with a neutrally buoyant design that adds lift, and are designed with added strength and reliability to meet the high performance requirements of vessels up to 250+ feet.
NEWS:East Coast Scalloper from Gulf Coast Yard
January 7 is a special day on the calendar of Bass Harbor Maine fisherman Brett Mitchell. That is the day that he rode his new raised-foc'sle scalloper, the Bella Rose, out of the Rodriguez Shipyard at Coden, Ala., for sea trials. At 72 x 24 ft. with a 12-ft. molded depth, this is a big boat. Rigged to tow a pair of eleven-ft. dredges, the twin-boom boat has a 2,500 cu. ft. insulated fish hold. Each boom is equipped with an H12 Pullmaster winch while the boat is equipped with an additional H25 Pullmaster winch. Power for the hydraulics to drive the winches is provided by a 250 hp Cummins C-series engine. Electrical needs of the new vessel are met by a pair of Cummins powered Onan model 35MC6BA 35 kW generator sets.
