Galtex Pilots Third Boat From Gladding-Hearn

Galveston-Texas City pilots have taken delivery of its third pilot boat, a new sister-ship to the 30 knot, 70-ft launch, built by Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, less than four years ago. Designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates, the all-aluminum vessel measures 70 ft over-all, with a 21-ft beam and a shallow three ft nine inch draft. The new launch is powered by twin Cummins QSK38-M diesel engines, each producing a conservative 1300 bhp at 1800 rpm and connected to a Hamilton HM 571 waterjet through a remote-mounted Reinjtes WVS 430/1 gearbox.

Galtex Pilots Order New Jet Boat

Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding has begun construction of its first water-jet-propelled pilot boat for the Galtex pilots in Galveston, Texas. Delivery is planned for March 2005. The shipyard is applying the experience of building more than 20 ferries with water jets to the new pilot boat. In selecting water jets over a traditional propeller-driven launch the Galtex pilots will avoid costly repairs to propellers and shafts from debris in Galveston harbor, particularly at high speeds…

Meridian Debuts Updated Line in NY

Setting the scene for the premiere of the new 2003 line of Meridian Yachts, a clear, blue sky served as the backdrop at New York City's Chelsea Piers, as these new innovative, and technologically sound vessels were introduced, by Meridian's president and master of ceremonies, William J. Barrington. The vessels, which join the ranks of their elite sister companies (all governed by the Brunswick Boat Group), of Sea Ray, Hatteras, Maxum and Sealine, range in size from 34 to 58 ft. (10.3 to 17.6 m) and include the latest technological and design innovations - specifically Meridian's own unique Docking on Command (DOC) system, which allows the most novice of boaters to guide their vessel into the tightest of spaces.

High Speed Fishing/Dive Catamaran Delivered to Asia

The most recent application of Image Marine’s expertise in producing custom vessels for comfort and recreation afloat is a 72-ft. (22 m) aluminium catamaran destined for the waters of South East Asia. While live-aboard dive boats and dinner cruisers continue to generate widespread acclaim for Image’s tourism vessels among commercial operators, this latest completion has been built and outfitted to meet the needs of a private owner. Image Marine’s Sales Manager, Mark Stothard, explains that the trade and private spheres share some common requirements. “Regardless of whether the boat is intended for personal enjoyment or profit-making, owners want a boat that will be comfortable, reliable, well-built, economical to operate and easy to maintain.
