Damen Shipyards Sells First Stan Tug 1205
British company Red7Marine has become the owner of Damen’s new Stan Tug 1205, the first in a new ship series which was only just unveiled to the market. Damen Shipyards had decided to show its new tug series at the Seawork Show held in Southampton in mid-June. But already on the second day of the international show the first Stan Tug 1205 was sold. “It is rare to sell a vessel directly at a show so we are delighted, especially because she had just come out of the yard,” said Casper Vermeulen, Damen Sales Manager Europe.
Workboats: Three Damen Stan Tugs for Corpetrolsa Group
Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with Corpetrolsa Group of Guayaquil, Ecuador, for the supply of three tugs; one Stan Tug 1205 and two Stan Tugs 1606. The tugs will be operated by Corpetrolsa subsidiary DLEN S.A. to support its bunkering operation. Corpetrolsa Group operates its own fleet of tankers in the 2,000 to 7,000 DWT range and the three new tugs will be used to assist them in the Ecuadorean ports of Esmeraldas and La Libertad. The vessels were already in stock at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and will be supplied in their standard format without modifications.
Damen Shipyards Norway Set to Deliver Stan Tug 1205
A few months after opening an office in Stavanger, Damen Shipyards is set to deliver a second Stan Tug to a Norwegian owner - EB Marine A/S - a family-owned diving company, which is one of the oldest diving companies in Norway. This latest order for a Stan Tug 1204 follows an order for a Stan Tug 1004 earlier in the year. Damen Shipyards opened the office in October 2012 to serve the offshore industry and Norwegian shipowners. Damen's Norwegian Office Reels in Tugboat Order

Great Lakes Shipyard to Build Damen Tugs
First Damen tugs to be built under license in the U.S. An agreement was signed between Damen Shipyards Group and Great Lakes Shipyard for the latter to build two Stan Tugs 1907 ICE at its facility in Cleveland, marking the first instance in which Damen tugs will be built under license in the United States, according to the Ohio shipbuilder. The ICE Class vessels will be operated by the yard’s affiliate company, The Great Lakes Towing Company, and will replace existing tonnage.
Venezuelan Aquatic Authority orders 3 Damen Tugs
Damen Shipyards will soon deliver three tugboats to INEA (Instituto Nacional de los Espacios Acuaticos, the Venezuelan Aquatic Authority). This repeat-order follows a previous order for two Damen Stan Tugs purchased by INEA in 2009. The tugs will be used in the Venezuelan ports of Puerto Cabello and La Guaira, and are meant to give assistance to the ships entering and leaving the harbor. Great Lakes Shipyard Builds First Damen Stan Tug
The first of 10 Stan Tug 1907 ICE vessels has been delivered by Great Lakes Shipyard to its sister company The Great Lakes Towing Company, both based in Ohio, U.S. Named Cleveland, the vessel marks a milestone in a licencing program agreed between Damen Shipyards Group and Great Lakes Shipyard following discussions that began in 2014. While the initial agreement is for the series build of 10 tugs for Great Lakes Towing, the vessels will also be available to third party buyers on a priority basis. The Stan Tug 1907 ICE is a compact design capable of 30-tons of bollard pull.

The Damen Stan Tug 1205 ‘SWS Essex’ was delivered to the Walsh & Sons Head Office in Brentwood (UK) last week. Walsh ordered the Stan Tug as part of their strategy to transport more cargo by water than by road. In the near future, the total transport capacity of Walsh’s lorry fleet will be exceeded by tug and barge transport. Fratelli Neri S.p.A. Orders Three Damen Vessels
Fratelli Neri S.p.A., the family-owned, Livorno-based harbor towage company, has ordered three new Damen vessels; an ASD Tug 2913, a Stan Tug 1606 and a Stan Launch 1305, the last for its subsidiary company Labromare, which is 50% owned by Tripmare S.p.A. All three vessels will operate in and around the port of Livorno, one of the busiest in the Mediterranean Sea. Delivery will take place in November this year. This order takes to six the number of Damen vessels ordered by Fratelli Neri in the past year.
Repasa Puts New Stan Tugs to Work
On October 13, Repasa's ASD Tugs assisted the berthing of a LNG tanker with great success. Yesterday the two Damen Stan Tugs 1606, outfitted as line handling boats, sailed to the buoy to receive another tanker for their first mission in Equatorial Guinea. For Repasa, this is a successful start of its new joint venture with P&O Maritime. The Damen Stan Tugs 1606, Red Ant and Red Bee, are the first Damen builds in Repasa’s fleet of workboats which also includes AHT and ASD tugs.
Great Lakes Shipyard Lays Keel for 10 Damen Tugs
A keel-laying ceremony was held on August 10 at Great Lakes Shipyard in Cleveland, Ohio for 10 Damen Stan Tugs 1907 ICE. The new Ice Class vessels will be the first tugs to be designed and built to comply with the new Subchapter M Coast Guard regulations, and will be operated by the shipyard’s affiliate company, The Great Lakes Towing Company, replacing existing tonnage. Damen’s Houston-based manager for North America, Jan van Hogerwou, confirmed that under the license, Great Lakes Shipyard will receive full construction, design and engineering support from Damen.

Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has laid the keels for two 16-metre long Stan Tugs, part of a seven-vessel order for marine services provider Nakilat SvitzerWijsmuller (NSW). A ceremony to mark this step in the shipbuilding process was held at NDSQ’s facilities located at Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar’s Port of Ras Laffan. The two twin-screw Stan Tugs have a bollard pull of 15 tonnes and will be used for mooring vessels visiting the Port of Ras Laffan.

Damen Builds Tug, Dredger for Nicaragua
The Nicaraguan port authority Empresa Portuaria Nacional (EPN) is set to take delivery of two newbuilds from Damen Shipyards Group. Damen built both vessels, a Damen Stan Tug 2608 and a Cutter Suction Dredger CSD350, at its yards in the Netherlands, and they are completed and underway. Damen Sales Manager Pieter Becker signed the contract for the Stan Tug 2608 on September 2, 2014 during a maritime trade mission to Nicaragua organized by the Netherlands Council for Trade. The contract for the dredger followed shortly after on November 15.
Heavylift Vessel Brings 22 Damen Vessels to Rotterdam
BigLift Shipping’s heavy-lift vessel Happy Star arrived in the Port of Rotterdam bringing with her Damen’s largest transportation of stock vessels to date; a total of 22 vessels. Damen Gets Contract for Tug
A contract has been signed with Astinave (Ecuador) for the delivery of a complete material package of a Damen Stan Tug 1405 to be assembled at their premises in Guayaquil. The tugboat is destined for Suinsa to assist coastal tankers at their berthing station. The vessel will enter in service in August 2008.
Damen ASD Tug Delivered to Clyde Marine
Clyde Marine Services has taken delivery of its first Damen ASD Tug, the shipbuilder announced today. The Damen ASD 2310 has been named CMS Warrior, and she will join a 12-strong fleet of tugs and crew tenders at the Scottish company. Based in Greenock, Scotland, Clyde Marine Services was established in 1913 and has a long history of working with Damen vessels. The first experience of a Damen vessel was when the marine services company bought a Damen Pushy Cat in the mid-eighties. The fleet includes Damen Stan Tugs 1906 and 1907, as well as two Stan Tug 1s.

The development of the Damen Stan Tug range of workboats has a history that dates back to the formation of Damen Shipyards in 1969. In those early days, among the most important standard designs for serial production were the Pushy Cat and original versions of the Stan Tug. The Pushy Cat and the Stan Tug 1 were popular in the dredging and marine construction industries. The Damen Tugs & Workboats project team has decided to discontinue the Pushy Cat 1204 series and the Stan Tug 1404 and offer one new design in their place, the Damen Stan Tug 1205.
Damen Stan Tug 1606 for Jan De Nul
Dredging company, Jan De Nul, has had 11 Damen Stan Tugs join its fleet in the last few years. In 2008, Jan De Nul placed an order for five additional Stan Tugs after another major order in 2007 when the Belgian firm ordered six Stan Tugs, as well as four Damen Fast Crew Suppliers. To be delivered over a period of 18 months, the five latest vessels have all been built at Albwardy Marine Engineering in Dubai, one of Damen’s joint venture shipyards in the Middle East. Damen Workboats for Fratelli Neri Fleet Expansion
Italian towing company Fratelli Neri S.p.A. has expanded its fleet with the delivery of three new Damen workboats. The trio of vessels will be based in the company’s home port of Livorno, on the Tuscan coast. Damen delivered all the vessels from stock;completing the final outfitting works within a timescale of three and a half months. This current delivery to Fratelli Neri consists of three different vessels. The first, an ASD 2913, was built at Damen Shipyards Galati. This vessel sailed from Romania to Italy on her own keel.
KTK Takes Delivery of its First Stan Tug 4011
On Friday, April 2, 2010, R.J. Lopez Ramirez (Managing Director CPA/CPT) accepted on behalf of Kompania di Tou Korsou (KTK) the delivery of the Damen Stan Tug 4011, Orca VI, in the port of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, Indonesia. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Alexis Daou (Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CPA/CPT). After the ceremony the vessel demonstrated some of her great capacities in the impressive port of Tanjung Perak. With its 70 metric tons of bollard pull and excellent autonomy, the Orca VI will boost to KTK’s capabilities in the international towing and salvage business.
