S&P Raises Steamship Mutual outlook to Positive

Poor’s has revised its outlook on Steamship Mutual to Positive from Stable. The A- financial strength rating has been reaffirmed. • the rating could be revised to A if a longer track record of extremely strong capital and stable earnings is demonstrated. “The Club’s underwriting performance and capital strength compare very favourably with the highest rated Clubs in the International Group. The Board is committed to maintaining this strong position which gives security to the Club’s Members.

Resolve Marine Begins Salvage in Northwest Passage

Resolve Marine Group, the Florida-based marine salvage, firefighting and emergency response company with worldwide operations, has been awarded the salvage of the 331-ft Clipper Adventurer cruise ship that ran aground on uncharted rocks near Nunavut in Canada's Northwest Passage on Friday, August 27. The Miami-based ship owner/operator International Shipping Partners awarded RESOLVE the Lloyds Open Forum salvage contract Wednesday. The P.I. Club for the vessel is Steamship Insurance Management Services, Ltd.

ITIC Appoints New Account Executive

The International Transport Intermediaries' Club (ITIC) has welcomed Joanne Thompson to its claims and underwriting team. Thompson has joined as an account executive and is responsible for underwriting claims and marketing to the members of the Club in many countries including India, Israel, Greece, Malta and UK. She joins ITIC from the crew and injury department at Steamship Insurance Management Services Ltd., where she was employed from 1995 following completion of a law degree at Sheffield University.
