Jepson to Serve Second Term as GPA Chairman
The Board of Directors of the Georgia Ports Authority today elected Robert S. Jepson Jr. of Savannah to serve a second term as chairman of the board. Jepson was first appointed to the Board of Directors in 2008 and previously served as vice chairman. The new vice chairman will be James A. Walters, and Stephen S. Green will serve as secretary/treasurer. “Bob Jepson’s steady leadership is exactly what is needed as we shepherd important rail, highway and maritime infrastructure projects to completion,” said Georgia Governor Nathan Deal. “Over the past year, we have made significant strides in moving SHEP toward construction,” Jepson said. Georgia Ports 25% Container Growth for April
Georgia Ports Authority’s (GPA) Executive Director Curtis J. Foltz announced that the GPA experienced 25.6% container growth in April and has recorded five consecutive months of double-digit growth through its ports. “The volume increases experienced in most commodity groups signals a continued economic recovery in most global markets,” said Foltz. “We are especially pleased that our ports are adding new jobs. Overall tonnage for April 2010 reported gains of 16.4%, which brings the GPA’s fiscal year-to-date (July 2009 through April 2010) volume to a 6% increase compared with the same time period last year. Green Elected GPA Chairman
The Board of Directors of the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) elected Stephen S. Green of Savannah to serve as Chairman of the Board. Green was first appointed to the Board of Directors in July 2004 by Governor Sonny Perdue and previously served as vice chairman. He is the President and CEO of Stephen Green Properties, a Commercial Real Estate Investment and Development Corporation. Green, who has served on numerous professional, civic and charitable boards and organizations, currently serves on the boards of Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport Commission, the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors of First Chatham Bank and the Savannah Vocational Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees.
