Louisiana Southwest Pass Dredging in Progess
GAC informs that until approximately July 8, 2014, the dredge G.D. Morgan will be conducting dredging of shoal material in the vicinity of Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River. The cutterhead dredge G.D. Morgan will be working in the vicinity of the Mississippi River, approximate Mile 6, AHOP to Southwest Pass, approximate Mile 19.5, BHOP. The G.D. Morgan will be monitoring VHF-FM Channels 13 or 16. Dredged material will be transported to the bank using a combination of floating and submerged pipeline. Dredging will be performed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The dredge will be lighted accordingly at night. Mariners are urged to transit the area at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. gac.com
Norfolk Dredging Shifts to Deepwater Point Range
Dredging operations have been completed in New Castle Range and all submerged pipeline has been removed, GAC said in a alert. Anchorage No.3 and No.5 are reopened for anchorage purposes. At this time, Norfolk Dredging is conducting dredging operations at Deepwater Point Range, scheduled to continue through mid-May, 2014. The Dredge ESSEX is operating in Deepwater Point Range, working from south to north, starting on the east side of the channel in the vicinity of the western point of the Killcohook National Wildlife Refuge. GAC said mariners are cautioned to remain a safe distance away from the dredge, buoys, cables, pipeline, barges, derricks, wires and related equipment. Submerged pipeline is placed parallel to the channel on the New Jersey side of the river.

Port Dolphin Energy, Port Manatee $30M Deal
The Manatee County Port Authority approved a long-term $30m agreement with Port Dolphin Energy LLC, providing Fla. with a second major source of natural gas. Port Dolphin officials estimate its project will generate more than $150m in direct economic impact within Manatee County during the next 20 years. Construction of the project is expected to begin in 2012 with completion in 2013. During the first five years of the agreement, Port Manatee will receive more than $16m in cash and assets, followed by about $15m per year over the remainder of the agreement.

Duramax Marine, a world leader in water-lubricated rubber bearings, recently broke ground on a new facility that will streamline the company's current manufacturing operations. The facility, with approximately 65,000 sq. ft. of factory and office space will consolidate production and administration into one centralized location in Troy Township, Ohio, approximately 40 miles south east of Cleveland. PHMSA – Burial of Submerged Pipelines
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is seeking comment on its Study on Burial of Submerged Pipelines. The study addresses hazards to navigation from offshore submerged pipelines, found mostly in the Gulf of Mexico. Since 1990, there have been 58 reported instances of a vessel or its equipment striking a submerged pipeline offshore and 64 reported instances where a submerged pipeline was either uncovered or presented a hazard to navigation.
