Conrad to Build Tugs for Bay-Houston and Suderman & Young

Conrad Industries, Inc. has signed two contracts for construction of two 98-ft., Z-Tech 7500 Class Terminal/Escort Tugs with Bay-Houston Towing Co.and Suderman & Young Towing Company, L.P. These ABS -classed tugs will provide harbor tug services for LNG vessels calling at the Freeport LNG terminal which is currently under construction in the Port of Freeport, Texas. G&H Towing Company of Galveston, Texas will operate the two tugboats. Johnny Conrad, President and CEO said "We are excited to add Bay- Houston and Suderman & Young as customers. These two new contracts are scheduled to be constructed at our Orange Shipbuilding facility which has constructed sixty-five tugs and towboats since 1974. With these additions, our current backlog is at a record high of approximately $93m.”

Tug Launched for Suderman & Young at Eastern

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. launched the Escort Tug OCEANUS for Suderman & Young Towing Company on April 26, 2016. This series of Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs is currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility. The vessel is scheduled for delivery later in July 2016. The launch ceremony was held at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Joey D’Isernia, President of Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance.

Eastern Launches Tug for Suderman & Young

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announced it has launched escort tug Triton for Suderman & Young Towing Company on September 11, 2015. The launch ceremony was held at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Joey D’Isernia, President of Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. Mike Nigro, V.P. of G&H Towing shared a few words about the quality work and commitment of the companies involved and Deacon Earl Mirus of St. John’s Catholic Church of Panama City blessed the vessel. Mikes wife, Lisa had the honor of christening the vessel.

Companies Sign Joint Contract with ConocoPhillips

Bay-Houston Towing Co., Suderman & Young Towing Co. LP, and Moran Towing Corporation are pleased to announce they have jointly contracted with the ConocoPhillips Company to provide harbor tug services for LNG vessels calling at the Freeport LNG terminal, currently under construction in the Port of Freeport, Texas. Bay-Houston and Suderman & Young will each provide one 6300 hp Z-Tech tractor tug while Moran Towing Corp. will provide a 5100 hp ASD tractor tug. ABS Escort Service; and ABS Fire Fighting Vessel Class 1. Galveston, Texas will operate the three tugboats. The tugs will deliver a combined bollard pull in excess of 235 short tons. The Z-Techs are powered by two Caterpillar 3516C HD engines providing 6300 hp (4700 kw). Schottel Model SRP 1520 Z-drives.

ESG Delivers Escort Tug Triton

In early December 2015 Eastern Shipbuilding Group delivered the Escort Tug TRITON for Suderman & Young Towing Company. These series of Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs are currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility. TRITON (Hull #235) is the first of a series four (4) Z-Tech Class Terminal & Escort Tugs being constructed for Suderman & Young Towing Company. Eastern is also building another identical series of four (4) tugs for Bay-Houston Towing Company.

LEEVAC Shipyards Contracted to Build TwoTugboats

LEEVAC Shipyards Jennings, LLC, Jennings, LA, has signed contracts with Bay Houston Towing Co. and Suderman & Young Towing Company, both of Houston, TX, to build two (2) 80' x 38' x 16' Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal / Escort Tugs. "We are very excited to have this opportunity to begin this partnership with companies like Bay Houston and Suderman & Young" said Christian Vaccari, President of LEEVAC. "These vessels wil primarily service the escort and towing activity in our operations in the Ports of Houston and Galveston," said Mark Kuebler of Bay Houston Towing, Co. Construction for this Robert Allan design will begin immediately with delivery for the first and second vessels slated in June 2013 and September 2013, respectively.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has delivered the escort tug Neptune (Hull# 237) on March 28, 2016. The Neptune is the second in series of four identical Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class terminal and escort tugs currently under construction for Suderman & Young Towing Company at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility.

(RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class terminal and escort tugs currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility for Bay-Houston Towing Co. The lead vessel in the series, H. Douglas M (ESG Hull #236), was delivered on February 5, 2016. Eastern is also constructing another identical series of four tugs for Suderman & Young Towing Company.

U.S. Shipbuilding: ESG Nabs Two Z-Drive Tug Contracts

Eastern Shipbuilding (ESG) said that Suderman & Young Towing Company and Bay Houston Towing Company each exercised one additional Z-Drive Tug to be built at ESG. This brings the total to six of the new Robert Allan, Ltd. Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs built at ESG's Panama City, FL facilities. G&H will provide the onsite representation for both owners as the owner's agent during the construction and delivery phases of the contracts. At delivery, G&H Towing will operate each vessels, as in the past. Length 80 ft. Breadth 38.25 ft. Depth: 15.75 ft.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. said it launched on August 15, 2016 the final vessel in a series of four Z-Tech Class Terminal & Escort Tugs being constructed for Suderman & Young Towing Company. The tug Poseidon is scheduled to be delivered later in 2016. The launch ceremony was held at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Patrick D’Isernia, Project Manager of Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. He spoke about the dedication and hard work of all of ESG’s employees, making the series of tugs a success.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG) said that Suderman & Young Towing Company & Bay Houston Towing Company have placed orders for a total of four new Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs at Eastern’s Panama City, Florida facilities. ESG added that G & H Towing Company will provide the onsite representation for both owners as their agent during the engineering, construction and delivery phases of these contracts. At delivery, G & H Towing will operate each vessel.

W&D Wins Two Contracts to Fill New Building

Washburn & Doughty signed contracts with Suderman & Young Towing and the Bay-Houston Towing to build each company one Robert Allan LTD designed Z-Tech 7500 Class Terminal/Escort Tug. The Z-Tech 7500 is a twin screw ASD ship-handling/escort tug, a 98.5 x 39.4 ft. vessel designed for berthing and unberthing large ships and for providing escort, emergency response, and fire-fighting capabilities in the vicinity of oil and LNG terminals. The tugs will be operated by the G&H Towing Company of , and will be used primarily at Sempra LNG’s Cameron LNG terminal. Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has launched Laura B, the final vessel in a series of four Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class terminal and escort tugs built for Bay-Houston Towing Co. The Laura B is scheduled to deliver in 2016. The launch ceremony was on July 1, 2016 at the builder’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Patrick D’Isernia, Project Manager at Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. S&Y’s Newest Tug Completes Sea Trials

Suderman and Young Towing Company, L.P. (S&Y) announced the completion of the sea-trials for its newest tug Thor. The tug features Z-Tech drive, and is touted as the first of its kind in the western hemisphere, with only four other Z-Tech vessels operating in the world. The Z-Tech design incorporates the best of the design features from standard tug Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) and Z-drive configurations. With its 360 degree turning wheel the design improves maneuverability while the Thor Z-Tech’s much larger skeg boosts towing capability and directional stability. This new operational design will enable the tug to handle tomorrow’s larger container vessels more efficiently.

Newest Z-Tech Tug for Texas Gulf

Tuesday, Nov. 25, Suderman and Young Towing Company (S&Y) announced the addition of the new Z-Tech tug Evelena to its coastal Texas fleet. Along with Thor, launched in 2007. “Because of the deepening and widening of the Houston Ship Channel, much bigger ships now call into the Port of Houston,” said Lamar Doyle, President of S&Y. The Z-Tech design incorporates a standard Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) and Z-drive configurations. With its 360 degree turning wheel, the design improves maneuverability, while the Evelena Z-Tech’s much larger skeg boosts towing capability and directional stability.

Designers, Robert Allan, inform that Leevac Shipyards has completed the construction of the second of their  Z-Tech designed 2400 tugs. The latest, 'Zeus', has been delivered to its owners Suderman & Young Towing Company of Houston, Texas following the earlier delivery of her sister 'Chloe K' to her owners: Bay-Houston Towing Co. of Houston, Texas. Both tugs are operated by G&H Towing of Galveston, Texas on behalf of their owners. The Z-Tech Class tugs from Robert Allan Ltd. are designed primarily for operation in major ports and marine terminals.
