Norwegian offshore vessel owner Simon Møkster Shipping AS said it has been awarded a contract with Lundin Norway AS for the platform supply vessel (PSV) Stril Mar.   The 2016-built Stril Mar will be under firm contract until the summer of 2018, plus additional options.

Seacor Announces JV with Cosco Shipping Affiliates

Offshore services vessel operator SEACOR Marine Holdings Inc. said it has formed a jointly owned company with affiliates of the world’s largest ship owner, COSCO Shipping Group. The Marshall Islands company, SEACOSCO Offshore LLC, entered into contracts for the purchase of eight Rolls-Royce designed new construction platform supply vessels (PSV) from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. Six of the PSVs are of UT 771WP design (4,400 tons deadweight), and two are of UT 771CD design (3,800 tons deadweight).

Tidewater Completes $79M ENSCO Deal

Tidewater has completed a previously announced transaction, acquiring the 27-vessel fleet from ENSCO International. The five anchor handling towing-supply vessels, six modern large capacity 220-ft. "stretched" platform supply vessels, 13 standard supply vessels and three utility vessels were acquired for a cash price of $79 million. Also included in the agreement is a provision which affords Tidewater the opportunity to provide supply, anchor handling and towing vessels to ENSCO for its Gulf of Mexico operations.

Total Extends Energy Scout PSV Contract

Norwegian shipowner Golden Energy Offshore Services has been awarded a contract extension for one of its platform supply vessels with Total in Nigeria. The company announced end of June 2017 to have entered into a contract with Total E&P Nigeria for the PSV Energy Scout - for a firm period of 3 months + optional periods of 3 months each. The Company announced extension end of September 2017. Energy Scout contract is now further extended in Direct continuation present firm contract and vessel now firm until 1st April 2018 + optional periods of 3 months each thereafter.

Chouest Continues Aggressive Newbuild Program

Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) announced plans to continue its newbuilding program. Having already designed, built, owned and operated almost 70 new generation offshore vessels servicing the deepwater oil and gas industry over the past decade, the company plans for 11 new vessels, with options for an additional 14. Construction highlights feature three additional 280-ft. deepwater supply vessels, with an option for another 10; four 160-ft. fast supply vessels, with an option for another four; three Norwegian-designed and built platform supply vessels; and a 348-ft. survey support ship.

Alabama Shipyard to Build GulfMark PSV's

BAE Systems' Alabama Shipyard contracted to build Platform Supply Vessels for GulfMark Americas. GulfMark Americas, Inc. has selected BAE Systems’ shipyard in Mobile, Alabama to build two new platform supply vessels that will serve offshore drilling operations. The contract reflects continued growth in U.S. commercial shipbuilding for BAE Systems and a major step forward in the company’s support to the oil and gas industry. Each of the GulfMark vessels will be qualified under the U.S. Jones Act and will measure 288 feet long and 62 feet wide. The selection also includes options to build two additional platform supply vessels in the future. The design for the BAE Systems-built Green DP2 vessels will be provided by MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting, Ltd.

The supply vessels and survey support ship are being constructed at ECO's shipbuilding facilities in Larose and Houma, La.; the fast supply vessels are designed and built at Breaux Brothers Enterprises in Loreauville, La.

Wärtsilä Powers 5 Aker Yards Vessels

Wärtsilä has signed major contracts with Aker Yards AS Søviknes and Aker Yards AS Trading - the recently established project development arms of the Aker Yards Group - for the supply of propulsion equipment for five offshore vessel projects being built in Norway, India and Brazil. The orders cover the supply of a total of 15 Wärtsilä engines, as well as power generation, automation, and other ancillary equipment. For the Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) being built at the Aker Yards facility in Söviknes, Norway, Wärtsilä will supply three 6-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF engines.

Viking Supply Ships Sell PSV 'SBS Cirrus'

Rederi AB TransAtlantic subsidiary Viking Supply Ships says it has sold the 1985 built platform supply vessel SBS Cirrus. The vessel has been delivered to its new owners, and the sale of the vessel will have a positive impact of NOK 0.8 million on the third quarter results. After the sale of SBS Cirrus, Viking Supply Ships’ fleet now consists of eight anchor handling tug supply vessels and five platform supply vessels. PAO Sovcomflot Lays Keel for New Supply Vessel

Arctech Helsinki Shipyards Oy (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) held a keel laying ceremony last week (17 December) for a new icebreaking platform supply vessel ordered by PAO Sovcomflot under a long-term agreement with Sakhalin Energy. Originally signed in April 2014 following an international tender held by Sakhalin Energy, the agreement provides for the operation of one multifunctional icebreaking platform supply vessel (ice class Ice-15) and three ice class platform supply vessels for 20 years under the Sakhalin-2 Project.

Talisman Energy (UK) has extended an existing one-year contract for 'SBS Tempest' a platform supply vessel (PSV) by 6 months SBS Tempest, a platform supply vessel of the VS470 MkII Design, is owned by Viking Supply Ships. The primary function of the vessel is to transport supplies to and from offshore oil platforms. The new charter extension will mean that the vessel will continue to operate from
 Talisman's logistics base in Peterhead, Scotland.

Seacor Continues Rational Fleet Expansion

Greatship Sells AHTS Vessel

Indian shipping company Great Eastern Shipping has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Greatship, has sold and delivered anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Greatship Akhila (7,080 bhp, built 2009) to unnamed buyers. "Greatship (India) Ltd (GIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd, has sold and delivered the 2009-built 80T Anchor Handling Tug cum supply vessel 'Greatship Akhila', to the buyers," the company said in a filing to BSE. However, it did not specify the buyers.

Swire PSV Genset Contract for MAN

Swire has ordered eight IMT-997 platform supply vessels (PSVs), with four to be built by Universal Shipbuilding Corporation in Japan and a further four to be built by EISA Shipyard in Brazil. Each vessel will be equipped with 4 × 6L27/38 MAN gensets, with each unit rated at 1,980 kW at 720 rpm. All generating sets will be constructed by MAN Diesel & Turbo’s Korean licensee, Doosan Engine Co. Ltd. The 97-metre, 5,000-dwt PSVs will be approved with DP2 (dynamic positioning) capability and have diesel-electric propulsion systems with azimuth propulsion units.

Tugs, PSV Ordered from Singapore-based Shipbuilder

ASL Marine Holdings Ltd., a marine group engaged in shipbuilding, ship-repair and conversion, as well as ship chartering, has secured contracts worth S$132.5 million for the construction of five vessels. The vessels comprised four 75-tonne bollard-pull Diesel Electric Hybrid Azimuth Stern Drive Tugs and one Platform Supply Vessel, scheduled for delivery between the fourth quarter of 2013 and the fourth quarter of 2014. Separately, the Group’s ship-repair division also secured conversion and upgrading works for two drilling rigs. ASL Marine owns and operates shipyards in Singapore, Batam (Indonesia) and Guangdong (China), providing a comprehensive range of marine engineering services spanning myriad sectors/ industries.

DOF Fix AHTS 'Skandi Emerald' Charter

DOF signs contract with international charterer for Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) 'Skandi Emerald'. The firm period of the contract is 220 days + 30 days options and commences this month, and the vessel is required for operations off the South America coast. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 36 million. Skandi Emerald is owned by Aker DOF Deepwater AS (ADD) and is an AHTS with 16, 000 BHP and 201 tons bollard pull. Tidewater To Build New Vessels For $300M

Tidewater Inc. will build new vessels for a total of about $300 million. The company plans to fund the program using its current cash balances, which exceed $150 million, its projected cash flow and its existing $200 million line of credit. Currently, Tidewater is debt-free. The new vessels will include large Anchor Handling Towing Supply vessels and large Platform Supply vessels, company officials said. The company expects delivery of the new vessels to begin in two years.

Aker Yards to Build for Island Offshore

Aker Yards signed a contract with Island Offshore in Ulsteinvik, Norway, to deliver one UT 712 L anchor handling tug supply vessel and one UT 776 CD platform supply vessel. The total value of the contracts is approximately NOK 600 million. This is the 21st and 22nd contract between the shipowner Island Offshore and Aker Yards. The hulls for the vessels will be built in Romania and outfitted at Aker Yards, Brevik. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled for September 2008 and March 2009.

Bay Shipbuilding to Build PSV for Tidewater

Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) announced that its Bay Shipbuilding Company will build two 303-ft Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) of the MMC 887 LH PSV Design from MMC Ship Design of Poland for New Orleans, La.-based Tidewater Marine, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tidewater Inc. The Deepwater Platform Supply Vessels, to be built at FMG’s shipyard Bay Shipbuilding Company, located in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., will be state-of-the-art vessels with diesel-electric z-drive propulsion, dynamic positioning 2 (DP-2) system, polar class 7, fire-fighting class 2 (FFV 2) system, and ENVIRO. Other contract terms were not disclosed. The first platform supply vessel is scheduled for delivery in the 4th Quarter of 2012…

PSV 'Skandi Caledonia' Hire Extended, Rate Increased

Three more years North Sea hire for DOP platform supply vessel 'Skandi Caledonia' Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has secured a three-year contract extension with Danish operator Maersk Oil for its platform supply vessel Skandi Caledonia for work in the UK North Sea sector. The three-year option now exercised from October this year replaces an earlier one-year option, with the dayrate for the new period  - which was not disclosed - set to increase 25%. The vessel has been working for Maersk since delivery in 2003.

Solstad Gets Three PSV Charter Agreements

Total E&P UK Limited and Elf Exploration UK Limited have signed agreements for hire of the platform supply vessels (PSV) “Normand Aurora”. The duration of the contract is firm for 5 years with further 2 x 1 year options. EDT Offshore Egypt S.A.E has signed for hire of  Stand-By vessel “Normand Draupne ”. The duration of the contract is firm for 1 year with further 1 year option with commencement April 2012. Finally, Statoil Petroleum AS has hired the platform supply vessel (PSV) “Normand Corona”.
