V.Group Names Kofod-Olsen as CEO

Ship management and marine support services giant V.Group said on Wednesday it has appointed René Kofod-Olsen as the company’s chief executive officer, taking over from Graham Westgarth who will become chairman. Kofod-Olsen will join V. Group on November 1.Kofod-Olsen brings to the role almost three decades of global shipping industry experience. In 2012 he was appointed CEO of Topaz Energy & Marine, a position he held until the company’s successful divestment in 2019. Earlier in his career he worked for the A.P.

Svitzer Announces Leadership Changes

Towage operator Svitzer announced Monday that effective September 1, 2020, Lise Demant will leave her role as global chief commercial officer and take up the position of managing director for Svitzer’s Europe region, succeeding Kasper Friis Nilaus, who was recently appointed CEO of Svitzer A/S. Also effective September 1, Videlina Georgieva will succeed Demant as global CCO and enter Svitzer’s global leadership team.Both Demant and Georgieva are based in Copenhagen and will report to Nilaus.Demant joined Svitzer in 2013 as chief operating officer in Svitzer Asia Pte Ltd.…

Svitzer Gets 10-Year Contract Extension with Sakhalin Energy Investment

Svitzer, the towage operator that is part of Maersk, announced a 10-year extension of its marine service contract with Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd., a consortium set up to develop and manage the Sakhalin-II project, aimed at producing and exporting oil and liquefied gas.Svitzer has been providing towage services to the Sakhalin-II project since 2007, and the extension comes into effect in November 2022 to support the mooring of more than 1,800 gas carriers with a vessel fleet of four Robert Allen ice-breaking tugs and two mooring boats.

Svitzer Asia Formers Towage JV in Qingdao Port

Qingdao Port International Co., Ltd and Svitzer Asia last signed a joint venture agreement last week in an effort to pool resources for future growth, establishing Qingdao Port Svitzer Towage Ltd to operate and manage towage services in the port. Qingdao Port International Co., Ltd is the main operator of Qingdao Port. “Establishing Qingdao Port Svitzer Towage Ltd is part of Svitzer’s ambition to grow in Asia, and will be the first operation of its kind for Svitzer in China,” said Alan Bradley, Regional Managing Director of Asia. Chief Commercial Officer, Kasper Friis Nilaus added, “This joint venture supports our global growth strategy by delivering towage services with high standards in safety and operational reliability, as well as providing advanced towage solutions at Qingdao Port.

Topaz Appoints New CEO

Renaissance Services has announced the appointment of René Kofod-Olsen as CEO for Topaz Energy & Marine (Topaz). Mr. Kofod-Olsen’s career spans 18 years in the marine industry with the A.P. Møller-Maersk Group (APMM), including a period as Chief People Officer of SVITZER, responsible for the global HR function. He is currently CEO of SVITZER Asia, Middle East & Africa, responsible for a fleet of 130 vessels operating in 17 countries. He is also a member of the global executive leadership team of SVITZER. He will take up his new position at Topaz in early August 2012.
