Lubrizol Joins Shipping’s Zero Emissions Ambition

Berkshire Hathaway to Acquire Business from Phillips 66

Berkshire Hathaway is acquiring Phillips Specialty Products Inc. (PSPI), a flow improver business, from Phillips 66 (NYSE: PSX). In exchange for the share capital of the wholly owned subsidiary, Phillips 66 will receive shares of Phillips 66 common stock currently held by Berkshire Hathaway. The specific number of shares will be determined by the share price at deal closing. “The flow improver business is a high-quality business with consistently strong financial performance, and it will fit well within Berkshire Hathaway. Lubrizol Makes Management Changes

The Lubrizol Corporation announced management changes designed to better support the company’s business objectives that include driving organic growth, strengthening the product portfolio and improving profitability. The newly appointed leadership will focus on enhancing product innovations across the enterprise, improving operating efficiencies across the global manufacturing and supply chain structure, managing enterprise risk and executing key bolt-on acquisitions that are complementary to existing product lines. The promotions took effect on September 26. Steve Kirk was elevated to senior vice president and chief operating officer, in charge of both Lubrizol Additives (LZA) and Lubrizol Advanced Materials (LZAM) business segments.

Lubrizol and Caterpillar Codeveloping Low-Emission Diesel Fuel

The Lubrizol Corporation and Caterpillar Inc. are developing a low-emission diesel fuel designed for use in commercial service diesel engines. This unique fuel technology utilizes Lubrizol's performance chemistry and system capabilities and Caterpillar's diesel engine combustion and emissions knowledge. The new fuel will be sold by fuel marketers and distributors and supported by fully integrated chemical, electronic and mechanical components sold by Lubrizol under the name PuriNOx Performance Systems. PuriNOx fuel is a stable blend of additives, water and commercial diesel fuel. Tests indicate, when compared to commercial diesel fuel, PuriNOx fuel significantly reduces two of the most critical emissions from compression ignition diesel engines - nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates.
