BIMCO, Shipdex Joins for Data Digitalization

BIMCO and Shipdex have signed an agreement to support the development and exchange of technical and logistic data across the shipping community, and to include BIMCO as an executive member of Shipdex steering committee. The agreement was signed at BIMCO Head office, Copenhagen by Lars Robert Pedersen, BIMCO Deputy Secretary General and representatives from the original nine executive members – Grimaldi Group S.P.A., Mastermind Shipmanagement Ltd., Alfa Laval Tumba AB, MacGregor Group AB, Man Diesel & Turbo SE, Shipdex Consulting Ltd, Yanmar Company Ltd., G&C Shipping Ltd. and Rolls Royce PLC. Li to Head MacGregor's China business

MacGregor develops operations in China and strengthens its organisation by appointing Zhengyu Li (Frank) as Vice President, Head of China as of 1 October 2015. Mr Li drives the development of MacGregor business in the most important market in the marine industry. He will be a member of the MacGregor Group Executive Team and based in Shanghai. Mr Li has over 25 years of international business experience, during which he has held various leadership positions in successful global companies like General Electric and Caterpillar in the Asia Pacific region. He joins MacGregor from Caterpillar, where his last role has been Innovation Director. "We are very happy to welcome Mr Li to MacGregor.

MacGregor Appoints 2 New VPs

MacGregor is presently building its new Global Lifecycle Support organisation to develop and enhance customer service both in the merchant shipping and offshore markets. The installed base of MacGregor's product portfolio of strong MacGregor, Hatlapa, Porsgrunn, Pusnes and Triplex brands is extensive in both markets and MacGregor is strongly focusing on serving its customers well throughout the lifetime of the installations. MacGregor announces appointments of two new Vice Presidents to lead its front line operations and service competence centres globally. Nick White is appointed as Vice President, Global Field Services which is an elemental part of the new Global Lifecycle Support in MacGregor group to drive the development of frontline service operations.

MacGregor Reorganizes into 7 Operative Divisions

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, announces changes in its operative structure and starts a reorganization into seven operative divisions which will become effective on January 1, 2015. The six new operative divisions together with Global Lifecycle Support as the seventh one will enable MacGregor to improve customer service throughout the lifecycle of the products, offer more comprehensive packages and boost the development of new shiptype-specific solutions, the company said. MacGregor Heavy-lift Electric Cranes Ordered for Nordana MPVs

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won a contract to deliver four 250-metric-ton heavy-lift electric cranes to two 12,000 dwt multipurpose vessels (MPVs) for a Danish operator Nordana. As part of a fleet refurbishment plan, the long-established Danish operator, Nordana, ordered four heavy-lift versions of MacGregor's variable frequency drive (VFD) electric cranes which are scheduled for delivery during 2014 and 2015. "Nordana is recognized as a specialist operator with a fleet of vessels able to carry a wide variety of cargoes," said Svante Lundberg, Sales Manager, MacGregor cargo cranes.

MacGregor to Deliver Two Arctic Subsea Cranes

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received an order for two MacGregor active heave-compensated (AHC) offshore cranes from a Turkish shipyard for a new subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) and construction vessel for a Norwegian owner. A 250 and 15-metric-ton MacGregor subsea crane will be installed on the 129-meter vessek. The 250-metric-ton unit will have its winch installed below the working deck and will also feature wire rope integrity software. The order was booked in the third quarter 2013 order intake.

20 MacGregor Cranes Ordered for Multipurpose Vessels

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has recently secured an order to supply 20 MacGregor cranes for four new 38,000 dwt general cargo vessels under construction at Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in China for the Chinese shipping company, Nanjing King Ship Management Co. Ltd. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between late 2014 and early 2015.The order was booked in the third quarter 2013 order intake. "The mix of cranes is designed to provide high levels of cargo handling efficiency," said Svante Lundberg, Sales Manager, Cranes.

MacGregor's MacRack Specified for Five Greek Bulkers

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, confirmed that five 180,000 dwt bulk carriers under construction in South Korea at Sungdong Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, will feature MacGregor side-rolling hatch covers operated by MacGregor's innovative MacRack technology. The order includes the design and supply of key components and the fabrication of the hatch covers. The bulkers are destined for two Greek owners, the first two for Quintana Shipping and the remaining three for Alcyon Shipping. The first vessel is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2014.

China Navigation Orders MacGregor Machinery for Four New Vessels

China Navigation Company's (CNCo) four new Chief Class 22,000dwt multi-purpose vessels ordered from Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (Ouhua), on Zhoushan Island in China, will each feature three 60-ton variable frequency drive (VFD) MacGregor cranes and hydraulically-operated MacGregor hatch covers. The order was booked in the second quarter 2013 order intake. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in late 2014 and first quarter 2015 and the contract includes options for an additional 2+2 vessels. CNCo is the deep-sea ship-owning and operating arm of the Swire group of companies and is wholly-owned by the group's parent company, John Swire & Sons.

Bourbon Orders MacGregor Subsea Crane

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won an order for a 150-ton active heave-compensated (AHC) subsea crane from leading offshore oil and gas marine services specialist, Bourbon. This builds on a contract that was secured at the end of 2007 from the operator for ten similar cranes. MacGregor Wins DSME Crane Orders

MacGREGOR 20-tonne capacity hose-handling crane

MacGregor has received an order for 28 hose handling and provision cranes from Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd (DSME). MacGregor is part of Cargotec Corporation, a provider of cargo handling solutions used in local transportation, terminals, ports, distribution centres, and ships. Cargotec’s MacGregor has developed technology for handling lightweight fiber rope and is about to install the world’s first subsea crane to use fibre rope In January. MacGregor is delivering the world’s first subsea knuckle-jib crane equipped with a system for fibre rope handling, which will be installed on the subsea vessel Havila Phoenix. The 250 tonne Hydramarine active heave-compensated (AHC) offshore crane is designed with a 250 tonne/3,000m single-line winch and is prepared for a 250 tonne single-line fibre rope.

MacGREGOR Wins Contracts

Four deepsea ConRos under construction at Hyundai Mipo for French owner CMA CGM will benefit from liftable car decks from MacGREGOR. The MacGREGOR Group’s RoRo division – part of the Cargotec Corporation – has received a contract to design and fabricate RoRo equipment and electrically-driven liftable car decks onboard four deepsea ConRos. The vessels are being built at the Hyundai Mipo shipyard and are destined for French owner CMA CGM. The contract value exceeds €25 million. Each ConRo shipset will comprise around 1,300 tons of equipment including: one stern quarter ramp; a stern door; two ramp covers (crocodile type); one top-hinged front door; and two level liftable car decks including access ramps. Marintec China’s Proves To Be a Success

Marintec China, which took place in Shanghai from December 4 to 7 2001, has proven that the show is the definitive maritime event not only in China, but also in the Asia Pacific region for the maritime industry. Figures say it all: 13,000 sq. miles of gross exhibition area, 778 participating companies from 31 countries and regions, 14 national pavilions and 22,865 unique visitors out of which 1,608 are international visitors coming from outside China. Marintec China 2001 was the largest and the most successful show ever held in its history since inception in 1981. For the first time at Marintec China 2001, all visitors were requested to register prior to admission. This was to ensure that only qualified trade visitors were allowed in and the unique number of visitors could be recorded.

MacGREGOR Forms Offshore Division

The MacGREGOR Group recently unveiled details of its new offshore division, a division made possible by the recent acquisitions of Hydramarine in Norway and Plimsoll in Singapore. The Offshore division will comprise more than 660 employees: 160 in Norway and 500 in Asia. In 2006, Hydramarine and Plimsoll had a combined turnover of approximately €104 million and a order backlog of €175 million. Both Hydramarine and Plimsoll are financially consolidated into the MacGREGOR Group as of April 1, 2007. Olli Isotalo was named president of MacGregor. He was previously president of Bromma, the container spreader specialist belonging to Cargotec Corporation. Isotalo has an MSc in Engineering, and he has held different key positions in Kalmar, Cargotec’s container handling business area, since joining the company in 1993.

Simpler Structure Strengthens MacGREGOR

"Service is the primary area of future growth for MacGREGOR," said the Group's president and CEO, Hans Pettersson, announcing a plan that will simplify the organisation's structure to increase its efficiency. After his appointment in August last year, Hans Pettersson initiated an exhaustive performance improvement programme that examined every aspect of MacGREGOR's activities. "For more than 60 years we've consistently come up with revolutionary cargo handling solutions that have become the standard. We have a truly global presence, both in terms of manufacturing and our service network. More than 13,000 ships use MacGREGOR products. Why weren't we more profitable?" he said.

MacGREGOR Group Appoints New President and CEO

Hans Pettersson has been appointed president and CEO of the MacGREGOR group. He took up his position on August 27, 2002 and will be based in the company’s Stockholm headquarters. Pettersson succeeds Anders Jagraeus who has been president and CEO since 1997. Jagraeus will pursue other interests outside the MacGREGOR Group. Pettersson joined MacGREGOR in 2001 as the general manager of the Cranes division. He has played a key part in steering the out-sourcing of MacGREGOR’s crane production to China. With an extensive international business background gained among others from 12 years with the Swedish Match group, based in South East Asia and Germany, Pettersson worked for 10 years in the paper industry prior to joining MacGREGOR.

MacGregor Appoints New President for U.S. Operation

The MacGregor Group has appointed Jack Finnegan as country manager/ president of MacGregor U.S.A., Inc. He took up his position at the beginning of August, and is based at the company’s New Jersey office. Finnegan succeeds John Albino, who will remain on MacGregor Inc.’s board of directors. Previously an executive in the new business development group of Drew Marine, a division of Ashland Specialty Chemical, Finnegan’s experience also includes time at Newport News Shipbuilding in global marketing and ship repair. He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, with a B.S. in marine engineering, and has been active in the global marine industry for more than 30 years.
